Wayzata Mayor Andrew Mullen featured three local community leaders on his television program 'Mayor About Town' during a May broadcast from St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church.

The show highlighted Kevin Ward, director of Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners (IOCP), who discussed the organization's 46-year history serving community members with basic needs including food, clothing, housing and transportation assistance. Ward noted IOCP served 5,000 individuals last year and continues operating from its Plymouth location after starting in St. Bartholomew's basement in 1978.

Wayzata West Middle School Principal Ryan Carlson outlined student-led community service initiatives, including fundraising efforts that raised over $17,000 for Team Tucker, a cancer support organization, and more than $10,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota through a polar plunge event. The school, built in 1951 as the original Wayzata High School, currently serves 850 students in grades six through eight and expects growth to 1,050 students in coming years.

Father John Clockman of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church discussed the parish's community outreach programs and the school's recent accreditation as only the second Catholic STEAM school in Minnesota. The church, established in 1916 by 12 families, operates a pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade school and maintains partnerships with organizations including IOCP, which originated in the church basement.

Mullen and Father Clockman announced plans to establish a community prayer breakfast by spring 2026, bringing together faith leaders from Wayzata's various religious communities.
