Wayzata City Manager Jeff Daw announced his departure from the city after nine years of service, accepting a position as city administrator for Woodbury. Daw made the announcement during a June city update video, stating the city is developing a leadership transition plan to ensure continuity of services.

The city also promoted Jamie Baker to police chief effective June 1. Baker previously served as interim chief and deputy chief after joining Wayzata following decades of service with Roseville. A swearing-in ceremony for Baker is scheduled for June 17 at the city council meeting, with a community meet-and-greet planned for June 24 at Panway Plaza.

Wayzata enacted a new e-bike safety ordinance requiring helmet use for riders under 18. The police department will enforce the regulation while educating users about safe riding practices, particularly on busy summer trails around Lake Street.

The city's annual July 4 celebrations will feature the Flying Pancake Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the depot, hosted by the National Society of Children of the American Revolution Lake Minnetonka chapter. The fire department will organize a Kiddy Parade at 10 a.m. at Park Street and Broadway, followed by Mini Olympics at West Middle School at 12:30 p.m.

Night to Unite neighborhood gatherings are scheduled for August 5, with residents able to sign up on the city website to host public safety officials and city staff at block parties.
