[0:06] it's time for city updates for the month

[0:08] of May where we'll be featuring

[0:10] information about the upgrades to

[0:12] Clapwick Park um the new features added

[0:15] to the Lakew Walker docks um and the uh

[0:20] community engagement meetings that the

[0:21] city has been bringing into our

[0:23] neighborhoods and an update on Arbor Day

[0:26] and Memorial Day

[0:28] so big news the city council awarded

[0:30] contracts for the Clappage Park

[0:32] improvement project uh th this was at

[0:35] their May 6 council meeting what that

[0:37] means is that now we have the

[0:39] contractors ready to go to start the

[0:41] construction project that'll commence uh

[0:44] early June and go all the way into fall

[0:47] of this year so unfortunately that means

[0:49] the park is going to be for the most

[0:51] part closed to our public the good news

[0:54] is that the park is going to be

[0:56] completely reconstructed uh there's

[0:59] going to be a brand new playground in a

[1:01] different location kind of at the base

[1:03] of the hill rather than on the hill

[1:05] accessibility improvements enhancement

[1:07] of sidewalks and a walking loop around

[1:10] the park uh improved grading and

[1:13] drainage which will help um the the the

[1:16] lifespan of the ice in the winter uh so

[1:19] that's exciting the warming house is

[1:21] going to be expanded and there'll be

[1:23] additional more functional related

[1:25] improvements like parking uh uh street

[1:28] crossings etc so really great project

[1:30] the council has been uh working on this

[1:33] for quite some time along with uh the

[1:35] help of the parks and trails board uh

[1:38] for any information or more details

[1:39] about what it's going to look like

[1:45] right there or call city hall with more

[1:48] questions

[1:50] so one of the big priorities for city

[1:52] leadership is community engagement for

[1:53] 2-way dialogue with residents and other

[1:55] stakeholders and in the last month we've

[1:57] held four sessions uh two were focused

[2:01] on the potential for adding a food and

[2:03] beverage uh sales tax uh so we had one

[2:06] uh focused on meeting with businesses

[2:08] and the other with residents and well

[2:10] attended um second we uh are taking out

[2:14] city leadership into the neighborhoods

[2:16] and we held our first one in the central

[2:18] core of downtown and had uh kind of

[2:21] about 50 people show up for that our

[2:23] next one will be in the fall in the

[2:26] Margaret Circle neighborhood so stay

[2:28] tuned for that we had a meeting on

[2:31] County Road 101 with the neighborhoods

[2:33] of Hollybrook and Pondridge and

[2:35] Waycliffe and um Harmony Circle and

[2:38] Shady Way talking about uh traffic and

[2:40] safety cur concerns on 101 and we held

[2:43] that in partnership with the city of

[2:45] Plymouth Three Rivers Parks District the

[2:47] MI uh Minnesota DOT as well as Henipin

[2:51] County as that's a county road to share

[2:53] that information with those other agency

[2:55] partners to try to address safety

[2:57] concerns on 101 one um the county will

[3:00] be coming back to us with a series of

[3:01] updates in the next uh several weeks and

[3:04] stay tuned for that update on the docks

[3:07] so last year uh the bumpers didn't work

[3:09] appropriately so we put a we had a group

[3:11] that uh uh put together a solution we

[3:14] have some trial bumpers going on

[3:16] basically uh through June um and then

[3:20] assuming everything works well we're

[3:21] going to be uh putting those bumpers up

[3:23] for the rest of the docs if you have any

[3:25] questions uh want to provide feedback uh

[3:27] talk to the doc masters out on the docs

[3:30] they have a little QR codes where you

[3:31] can provide feedback uh thank you so in

[3:34] the month of May we have a couple of

[3:35] exciting events coming up uh first is

[3:37] our Memorial Day event in Heritage Park

[3:40] midm morning on Memorial Day uh that is

[3:43] hosted by the American Legion and then

[3:45] second we'll be celebrating Arbor Day on

[3:47] May 31st and there will be a event from

[3:51] 12:00 to 2 at the depot park and

[3:54] there'll be a scavenger hunt for kids

[3:56] there'll be some speakers on um

[3:58] pollinator gardens and native

[4:00] landscaping and tree information uh

[4:02] there'll be a limited number of free and

[4:04] seedlings that'll be handed out to the

[4:06] public and then at 1 p.m the Arbor Hill

[4:10] Tree Farm will plant a large American

[4:12] elm uh along the south uh area of Berian

[4:15] Lake so hope to see you out there at

[4:17] both those events that would be Memorial

[4:18] Day at Heritage Park um and then the

[4:21] second would be on the 31st celebrating

[4:23] Arbor Day uh beginning at Depot Park see
