The Wayzata Planning Commission elected Blake Cameron as its new chair during Monday's meeting, following the resignation of former Chair Lissa Stockton.

Commissioner Chris Planton, who served as vice chair, will continue in that role for another term. Planton presided over the meeting and thanked Stockton for her years of service to the commission before the leadership vote.

The commission also welcomed new member Joel Van Ly, a Wayzata Highlands resident with a background in electrical and computer engineering and IT consulting. Van Ly said his previous work kept him traveling frequently, but he wanted to engage more with city planning issues after following major local developments including Big Woods and the TCF redevelopment.

Planner Quarrels reported that construction continues on the 920 Wayzata Boulevard residential project at the former Wells Fargo site, with crews currently working on underground parking. Several other development applications are under review but have not yet been deemed complete.

The commission's next meeting scheduled for Jan. 27 has been cancelled due to lack of agenda items. The next meeting will be Feb. 10, which will likely include the annual training workshop for commissioners.
