Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns on this agenda item. ## TP/ks 2 ## Memorandum ## TO: Mayor Nowell DATE: 8/14/2026 ## Members of the City Council ## FROM: Todd Prafke ## City Administrator ## RE: Cultural Liaison Agreement with District 508 ## ACTION/RECOMMENDATION For your information and input. ## BACKGROUND In the summer of 2025, the School District and the City entered into an agreement that provided access to and support from the District’s cultural liaisons. Through this partnership, the City was able to promote activities, share information on programs and projects, and strengthen connections between community members and City staff regarding the use of existing City services. The agreement was designed to create a more structured approach to these efforts and to provide additional funding to the District to support the outlined services. Because it was considered a pilot initiative, both City and District staff agreed it would be reviewed in the summer of 2026. Following that review, staff from both organizations concluded that the partnership has been beneficial. The funding allocation supported and improved communication pathways and access to information, ultimately providing meaningful value to community residents. The Shared Services Committee—comprised of School Board Members and City Councilmembers—also reviewed this initiative at its most recent meeting and expressed support for continuing the partnership, citing positive outcomes for the District, the City, and the community as a whole.
