## STEWARTVILLE PARK BOARD
Meeting of July 13, 2026
## City Hall - 6:00 PM
## Minutes
I. Call to Order - Roll Call – The meeting was called to order by Beyer at 6:00 PM.
Board Members Beyer, Grabau, Amos, Lonien, and Councilperson Oeltjen were present. Also
## present were Public Works Director Hale, Community Development Coordinator Gehling,
and Finance Officer Grabau.
## II. Approval of Consent Agenda
Matters listed below in this “Consent Agenda” are considered to be routine for the Park Board
and shall be approved by one motion. If further discussion is desired regarding any item, it
may be removed from the Consent Agenda for individual consideration.
## A. Park Board June 8, 2026 Minutes
## B. Park Board July 13, 2026 Agenda
Motion made by Grabau, seconded by Lonien to approve the consent agenda. Unanimously
approved.
## III. Financial Update
A. 2027 Budget Review – Grabau introduced herself to the Board and presented
the year-to-date expenditures, remaining budgeted line items for 2026, and
the proposed five-year capital plan budget. Discussion followed regarding
increasing the Board's annual capital allocation from $130,000 to $150,000,
noting that the Board hasn’t received an increase in funding over the past
three years. The Board also discussed the impact of inflation on future
project costs and the need for additional funding to complete projects
included in the five-year plan.
Motion made by Amos, seconded by Lonien to increase the annual capital allocation ask
from $130,000 to $150,000. Unanimously approved.
## IV. New Business
A. SMIF Small Town Grant – Gehling explained that SMIF will be opening a
Small-Town Grant opportunity on July 22nd. Gehling noted that during
previous discussions, several individuals mentioned the need for updated
signage at the Bear Cave Disc Golf Course to assist players with navigating
the course. Gehling provided an example of the City of New Prague
receiving a $6,630.75 grant award in 2023 for a similar project. Discussion
took place regarding the amount the Board would be willing to allocate
toward the project if a matching grant is awarded.
Motion made by Grabau, seconded by Amos to authorize Gehling to apply for the Small
Town Grant for an amount not to exceed $10,000. Unanimously approved.
## B. August 10

Park Board Meeting – Gehling explained that the next scheduled
Park Board meeting on August 10th conflicts with the City Council Meeting.
Discussion took place regarding moving the meeting to the following
Monday, August 17th, at Florence Park.
Motion made by Lonien, seconded by Grabau to reschedule the next Park Board meeting
to August 17th at 6:00 PM. at Florence Park. Unanimously approved.
## V. Old Business
A. Dog Park Shelter Updates – Hale provided an update regarding the new
carport, stating that it has been purchased and is currently in the City's
