Termination of Probationary Staff

Julie Coffee, Executive Director of Human Resources, presented the annual recommendation for the non-renewal of probationary teaching contracts. This action is taken in April to meet the July 1st deadline defined in Minnesota statute, allowing teachers sufficient time to seek other employment. Teachers were notified by their principals prior to the meeting. Reasons for non-renewal can include performance, budgetary, staffing, or one-year positions.
Resolution Authorizing the Sale of Certificates for NYFS Property Acquisition
Moved by Unknown [0:58:39] · Seconded by Unknown [0:58:43]
Superintendent Lennox explained that for years the district has leased space at the NYFS building for student programming. Through recent negotiations, it was determined that both organizations would benefit if the school district became the owner-operator and NYFS leased space from the district. The district is offering Certificates of Participation (similar to bonds) for financing. The board was asked to approve an authorizing resolution to enter a lease purchase agreement for the acquisition and financing of the property.
Notable Quotes (3)
During that probationary period, the teacher's annual teaching contract may be renewed for any reasons. Um performance, budgetary, staffing reasons. Um we have some teachers who are hired to one-year positions. Um and then lensure reasons as well.
Recently in conversations with NYFS leadership, it became clear there would be a benefit to both organizations if we flipped that relationship where Moundsu public schools would become the owner operator of the property and NYFS would lease space from the district.
So, the next step um this evening is to have the school board take action to enter a lease purchase agreement uh that allows for the issuance of those certificates of participation and will allow for the acquisition and financing of the NYFS property.
