Motion to Amend Agenda Order

Director Bachi moved to amend the agenda to address the resolution condemning anti-Semitism before going into a closed session, allowing community members present for that item to remain without waiting through the closed session.
Resolution Condemning Anti-Semitism

Acting Chair Anderson initiated the item by stating the resolution was a response to recent anti-Semitic comments in the community that did not align with the district's equity vision. Acting Clerk Rose Chu then read the full resolution, which cited data on rising anti-Semitism and committed the district to combating prejudice, welcoming all students, and teaching accurate histories.

A motion was made to enter into a closed session as required by Minnesota statute to consider educational data and the potential expulsion of two students.

Following the closed session, the board moved to adopt a resolution concerning the expulsion of a student.

Immediately after the first expulsion, the board considered and adopted a second resolution regarding the expulsion of another student.

I think a lot of people a lot of folks in this community realized over the past several weeks um uh some anti-semitic comments that have been made uh in this community and I'll just be frank uh comments that don't fit I think our community I I know they certainly don't fit our Equity vision and so we're we're taking action tonight this board this district is taking action.
Therefore be it resolved that the school board of Independent School District number 623 Roseville area schools condemns any anti-semitic statements or actions targeting our students staff families and community be it further resolved that Roseville area schools Embraces its responsibility to welcome and educate all students students will uphold the district Equity Vision to provide an equitable and respectful educational experience for every student family and staff member is committed to the safety and emotional well-being of all students within its control and is committed to ensuring that all spaces are welcoming and safe places for students staff and their families.
