Superintendent Lennox presented the 2026-27 District Operational Plan, outlining eight goals. Three were identified as priority goals: implementing capital projects for safety, security, and instructional technology; completing a review and reset of the early college program; and expanding the facility study to include specialized programming and lease spaces. Other goals included strengthening staff recruitment/retention, expanding outdoor classrooms, enhancing the student information system, and recognizing achievements across all district levels. The board had previously discussed and provided input on these goals during a retreat.

Darren Johnson presented a request to extend contracts for five Type Three transportation providers (Safe Tree Transportation, Twin City Transportation, United Transportation Services, Efficient Transportation, and Integrated Student Transportation). These contracts, initially approved in May 2024 for two years with a two-year extension option, are now being formally extended for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 school years, with an additional option to extend for 2028-29 and 2029-30. This strategy is permissible under Minnesota statute, which allows transportation contracts up to 10 years, and aims to mitigate rising transportation costs and maintain consistent service relationships for students and families.
