The city of Roseville hosted a community gathering focused on sustainability >> that'll encourage other alternative modes of transportation. >> Ted Redmond of Pale Blue Dot is partnering with the city to help shape a climate equity and action plan. >> Renewable energy potential studies. We did lots of different uh research. >> Residents who attended the event shared a meal, listened to a presentation, and even had the opportunity to share their thoughts and goals with the city. But if we're in this spot where I think density is got to be a key solution to any kind of consideration in any kind of sustainability space, >> it's important to invest in it now. Um because obviously these will have huge knock-on effects in our future and it's a very immediate issue, but right now there's a lot of opportunities to make some of these changes. >> Like we need to be more ambitious because we're actually starting behind. We should have started this probably 60 years ago. Council member Julie Strong joined the conversation to hear from residents and discuss ways to foster local sustainability. >> The plan so far is really headed in the direction that I wanted it to to go to make sure and address greenhouse gases emissions, EV charging infrastructure, just things that we can do as a city. And then I want I hope we come away from it with actionable steps, things we can practically do. And in a long and short um you know time frame, there's things that we can do now um that maybe we can't do um we couldn't do 5 years ago and there may be things we can do now that are impactful that maybe 20 from year years from now might not be as helpful. >> While this event was a great start, it's still vital for residents to get involved and make their voices heard in Roseville.
