[music] [0:19] It's the best thing about Candy Cane [0:21] Lane [0:24] is the peppermint scented smoke. [0:27] Well, it started in 2019. [0:30] We [music] have always loved Christmas [0:33] lights and we had a little collection [0:35] growing. [music] Um, but in 2019, um, we [0:38] lost Chris's mom, Rita, [music] um, [0:40] suddenly. And she really loved National [0:43] Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the movie. [0:46] And so we decided that we were going to [0:50] just go bigger. And then every year it's [0:53] gotten bigger and [music] bigger and [0:54] bigger. [laughter] [0:56] >> [screaming] [0:58] >> So, we start November 1st. We tracked [1:01] our time this year. It took 291 hours to [1:04] [music] create this magical candy cane [1:07] lane. [1:12] Some of the kids in the neighborhood [1:13] have called us the Ho Ho House and refer [1:16] to us as the Candy Cane Lane House, you [1:18] know, even when it's not Christmas. So, [1:20] I mean, we've kind of, you know, have a [1:22] reputation of bringing joy to the [1:24] neighborhood, and I don't know, it's [1:26] just it's fun. [screaming] [1:30] >> The ones on the slightly elevated hill [1:32] across the street, they they always tell [1:33] us that they have the best view in all [1:35] of Minnesota. So, we agree. [1:38] When we started the display, we didn't [1:40] know that we were supposed to collect [1:42] donations, but everybody kept asking us [1:44] like, "Who are you collecting for?" So, [1:45] we were like, "Oh, okay." So, we've been [1:48] doing [music] it since year two. Uh, the [1:49] first couple years we did uh rescued [1:52] Pets Are Wonderful because we had done a [1:54] lot of fostering through them [music] [1:55] and had a great connection. And then we [1:58] wanted to bring it to Roseville. So, the [2:00] last two years we did the wildlife [2:02] rehabilitation clinic. And this year we [2:05] chose every meal. Uh, we just wanted to [2:07] share the love in a little different [2:08] way. [2:11] You know what's really special for us is [2:13] like we'll see, you know, kids get out [2:15] of the car and just run up the driveway [2:18] with just these wide eyes and you just [2:20] know that it is that magical like [2:24] Christmas experience that we [music] try [2:26] to provide to the community. Um, and it [2:28] just brings us a lot of joy and all the [2:30] Christmasing going on here is is such a [2:32] [music] great background for our lives. [2:34] >> Is it kind of magical? Yeah, we come [2:36] here every year. [2:38] [music]
