We practiced [21:59] breathing a lot and then I made him do [22:01] push-ups. [laughter] [22:05] >> They did a really good job. [22:06] >> We have a special introduction to the [22:08] next piece done by our friend. [22:13] [cheering] [22:14] [applause] [22:17] Before [22:24] we sing our final piece, Stardust by B [22:27] be E Boy Ven. We want you to know more [22:31] about the text. Marcus J summarized the [22:34] text like this. In Stardust, the singers [22:37] call for a home where we can walk. A [22:39] memory of our man Aubrey. A home where [22:41] we can pray in memory of the victims of [22:44] a mother in Emanuel Sh. A home where we [22:47] can breathe and a me in memory of George [22:49] Floyd and a home to sleep and dream [22:52] without fear and me in memory of Rihanna [22:55] Taylor. When we sing, we pray twice. And [22:59] it is my prayer that this piece stirs [23:01] all who can hear it to call for justice [23:03] for the people of color taken from this [23:05] world before their time and without [23:07] concern for their community. [23:10] The poet Brittany Ray Crowwell adds this [23:17] ku. [23:19] These are the magic words from Virginia [23:21] Hamilton's the people could find. [23:24] There's no actual translation for it. [23:26] Although it has similarities to some [23:29] African language academics, the lack of [23:33] translation may have been Hamilton's way [23:35] of showing how most of the Africans lost [23:39] access to their ability to fly due to [23:41] being enslaved and removed from the [23:45] [applause] [23:49] [applause] [24:05] Thank you. [24:29] >> [bell] [24:31] [music] [24:40] >> If we are [music and singing] [24:44] only starving. [24:46] >> [music] [24:48] >> Let your names [singing] reach to the [24:50] sky. [24:52] Above us [24:56] like [singing and music] [24:57] walking on a breeze. [25:01] We lift you [singing] up beyond our [25:05] [music] reach. [25:08] [singing] [25:12] >> [music] [25:12] >> Amen. [25:15] [singing] [25:18] [music] [25:20] Amen. [singing] [25:21] Amen. We say your name. [25:24] [music] [25:29] [music] [25:30] If we [singing] are [25:34] only stardust, [music] [25:38] may your blood never [music] be [25:41] [singing] in pain [25:45] [music] [25:46] like paddles wafting on a breeze. [25:51] [singing] We lift you up [25:54] beyond [music] our reach. [26:00] I [26:02] [music and singing] [26:05] might. [26:10] [music and singing] [26:19] [music] [26:24] [music] [26:27] [singing] Amen. We say your name. [26:31] [music] [26:37] Each day [singing] we grieve another [26:41] face. [26:42] [singing] [26:44] Maybe all this stardust will carry us [26:49] home one [singing] day [music] [26:53] to a home [singing] where we can run. [26:56] [music] A home where we can pray. [27:01] A home where we can bring. [27:04] A home where [music and singing] we can [27:06] pray. [27:08] to sleep and dream [27:12] without [singing] fear. His justice [27:16] [music] [27:17] is far away. [27:22] We cry our names. [music] [27:24] We cry your [singing] hands [27:27] for the strength to keep on fighting [27:30] with that you are flying. [27:31] [singing and music] We cry your name. [27:34] require [27:37] for the strength to [singing and music] [27:38] keep on fighting with the hope that you [27:41] are flying. Your name.
