This is, as you know, um, one of the things since I became city manager, I had wanted to expressly have more robust conversations around the budget document. It's, uh, it's arguably the most important document that we pulled together.

I think it'd be interesting to see if we can bring these discussions to the community. So maybe perhaps hosting one over at Edgerton Elementary, maybe another one down in South Maplewood at the, you know, some kind of center down there.

One of the comments that people often make is, well, this is really hard to decide. Like, I like all of these things. They're all important. And so it's that, um, the, the value is sort of understanding the trade off that we cannot do everything that the community wants and that you are faced with really hard choices at the end of the year.

Cities that get their act together and build programs and build services and spend that money often get a second bite at the apple. So if a city doesn't spend it within four years, it goes back into the fund. We might be able to access those.

What would it look like to include a dedicated capital replacement fund, uh, to anticipate those buildings? You know, it's, uh. What would it take to do that?

And I have to say that the decision to focus on that and to recognize that everything comes incrementally and it's making those challenging decisions boldly, courageously and saying, we're going to tackle the debt, we're going to reduce it. And now to look in, you know, 12 years, paying off $33 million in debt is astronomical...
