Fire Chief Jason Melinger presented the need for and details of a new city hall security access system. The current system relies on manual programming for over 125 door locks across three different operating systems, taking up to four hours for a single personnel change. The proposed $151,000 system from Electro Watchmen will feature an on-premise server, centralized administration with granular access controls, audited tracking, keypads, FOB/mobile credentials, panic buttons for finance and community development, and updated front door hardware. The system is designed for future expansion to other city facilities like Public Works, Casey Lake, and Howy Park. The cost is offset by significant savings from security window projects previously budgeted for 2026.

we basically have three different types of operating systems throughout the city with over 125 door locks and everyone of them you have to go out and touch... we're talking a minimum of maybe four hours a day to reprogram everything throughout the city for for one person.

this system would also allow us to include other buildings into the future... that's our goal. We want to be able to have the entire city on one system that's operated um by all of the admin to be able to allow access all your pump pulses too.

Good news is that we did have two items that were on the capital plan for 2026 being um the security windows on both the community development side and the finance side... So, it's really looking at that saving Yeah. that the savings is there to be able to cover this.
