Peach Jar Communication Budget Pre-Approval

Unanimously Approved

Dissent: None

Discussion revolved around the need for pre-approving a recurring expense for using the Peach Jar platform for school district outreach. This platform is used for advertising opportunities for student commissioners, utility box calls, and other commission initiatives. The current cost is small ($20 per use), but anticipating future needs, a higher pre-approved limit was proposed to streamline procurement.

Direction Given to Staff

Dissent: None

A commissioner raised a question regarding the necessity of photo releases for participants whose hands would be photographed for a public art project on a utility box. The discussion quickly escalated to the legal implications, especially concerning minors and the long-term public display of the art. The consensus was that formal written releases would be required to protect the city and the artists, and a template would need to be drafted.

I've just been paying for it because it's like I'd rather have the word out there than not have it out there but I'm wondering if we could include that as part of our um budget for communications Outreach.

do we need a release for taking photos of people's hands for the car show?

I would say to be on the safe side for minor children especially we would need to have their parents sign a release and we need people to sign a release because their hand even though we may feel they're not identifiable are going to be on a side of utility box for years to come in the city and we want it to be okay.
