e oh yeah I think I don't know I just I just come here once a month oh sorry okay all right call to order the May 1st North St Paul arts and culture commission welcome everybody my name is Tom Sonic I'll be your host for this evening's festivities um and we are going to start by reviewing the items on our agenda first of all with our call to order and so we have our new uh City administrator liaison what do you call your role my here with with us I am the commission secretary the commission secretary it's right on the paper I should have looked at but we have a new commission secretary ma Jang ma welcome happy to have you here um you have big shoes to fill following Sarah Lang but we're happy that she's still with us here in the city of North St Paul so um so if you don't work out we're just going to we'll bring her back no I'm kidding um but my uh welcome and if you would uh like to take the role for us we'd appreciate that certainly uh chairperson Sonic here Vice chair Netto here commissioner black here commissioner Clark Williams here student commission SoDo here commissioner string here commissioner Yang here council member Wong here and our commission secretary Jang thank you for being here so we are going to move to adopt the agenda so if everyone has had a chance to take a look at the agenda if there's anything missing here that you'd like to add uh we'll take a moment now to do that if not I'll entertain a motion to approve the agenda as stated I do have a question I have a future project I would like to bring up and I'm not sure if that should be already fitting into an agenda part or or if I can just bring it up during my um where would we I could bring it up during my reports from Commissioners or something uh yeah let's I guess let's do that okay uh Amanda that because I we don't have like a regular sort of new business thing or we could bring it in we could do it in item seven commission business action items and recommendations it would make sense there too so after we get updates if you want to do the yeah tell us what you got there that's fine that seems like a better place okay anything else anybody want to make a motion to approve the agenda as is I make a motion to approve the agenda as is thank you see I second that motion s Sharon second so all those in favor signify by saying I I I opposed we have adopted the agenda congratulations everyone um approval of minutes everyone get a chance to review the minutes from our April 3rd meeting and if so if you had any questions amendments edits if you would uh we can talk about those now if not I'll entertain a motion to approve the minutes from our last month's meeting I'll make a motion to approve those minutes Carrie moves to approve as is anyone want to second that I'll second that second um uh by Laura and any discussion yes okay all those in favor signify by saying I I opposed okay minutes are approved meeting is open to the public we have nobody here but br's here acting in official capacity I assume I'm just here because Sarah is out and I didn't want mine to be on her own on her first day oh that's nice well but if you wanted to act as a member of the public then we would open it up to you if you had any comments done at this time okay thank you uh public hearings we don't have any so commission business action items and recommendations so we're going to have updates from subcommittees and then there's going to be an update I think from my about our t-shirt order great okay so let's go to Project snowy this is the big one that uh we're going to have our big unveiling in about a month so C Amanda Laura any updates here go ahead see you all look very excited about this so I can't wait to we are good actually we just met uh right before this meeting too to talk a little further about it but as far as updates so may is going to be our big push on you know like being media focused and really drawing attention to the work uh that the artists will be doing so we um did get artist agreements in they also have uh you know like they've also been asked to start working on their final designs and getting them approved through their businesses and uh I believe to submit for our subcommittee to review we are still working on that and uh we'll be connecting with Sarah further to make sure we get those final designs approved um in case folks have been making any adjustments um really quickly our city statue we did also you know make adjustments to that and we're very excited to uh for you guys to see how it turns out good uh so we uh I believe Sarah has sent out um information as far as uh you know like snowy watch times as in like who could help with watching Snow's and the artists and I we we're not sure where things have landed yet um and I'm looking at everybody here have you guys responded back to Sarah about um if folks have any availability to help out there um if not that would be great if you could take a look at that email we definitely need um support in uh like the evenings and also on the weekend times in particular uh so that would be great oh okay so I I took that I'm looking at the email I I saw this earlier um and it says still waiting atten send out oh I okay I didn't see the schedule attached I thought okay one thing I will add from that email is um I will be available 10 to 5 on weekday days and so we just need somebody from 5: to 7: on weekday evenings okay also um just because you can work a Saturday or evenings 5 to 7 really but just because you could work a weekend you don't have to work that entire shift if you were available just part of it that would be helpful too okay yeah but if we all help each other I'm sure we could cover cover ground yeah yeah this exclusively for the Commissioners or is this a volunteer position that others can do outside of this group oh like who are you thinking I don't know it was just an it includes getting keys to the community center so I think oh I see probably not okay I see y all right and then further um coming back a little bit to uh the updates and I'll let um um Amanda talk a little bit about the VMAs she's kind of worked on but U before that I was talking about the media focus on the work and friends please feel free to jump in but I'll I'll start us off um some things that Sarah shared as far as like how we could help support our artists and businesses who have participated in this um project or program is that we are looking to do video of the artist in like kind of like a little interview and like promoting that and sharing that so thinking about um uh making little recordings and making those available so the question is do um you know like our like we could use our phones like we we the our our little subcommittee have picked out a couple days but wondering you know like for the bigger commission here do we have um video equipment or that we might want to use otherwise basically a lot of media and the promotion right now is going to fall on us without our communications director coordinator whatever her title was um and so this is part of it I don't know if the city owns a video camera that we could use for this or that's a noled okay they have done videos I just don't know if they've hired out for it possibly the last video that was done I think with the Eda that was contracted out I will say I'm married to a filmmaker and um he just uses his phone now it's everything else is obsolete so yeah tell you what they're they're what's on your phone is a lot better than the video cameras and cheaper yeah okay okay so we're just looking at some different things that we need to pick up um without our Communications person here so that was one of them is getting these video videos and we'll get them on site while artists are working uh we're also going to ask that anyone who is on Snowy watch if you can take a couple pictures of the work in progress that helps us yeah um yeah and so the the one of the other parts is um that we're going to look to get your your thoughts and ideas on is that you like we have our unveiling event on June 6 and so part of that is and maybe Brandy might know um you know like there's going to be event planning and I believe Sarah is on it but I don't I haven't connected with her as far as like where she is on that progress has she or my have has I do not know where Sarah is do you have any idea um the event unveiling let's see not that I know of but I think in our packet it was June 6 as no a reveal yeah yeah um we could provide Sarah with the request to send up email perhaps yeah that sounds good just need to know what what has been planned and what we need to follow up on yep and I know Sarah reached out about um you know like these other areas where she could use some some assistance so in particular the invitations right and I don't know Laura if you wanted to speak on that so we discussed um doing invitations both Evite and paper invitations but we don't have a list and we're hoping that Sarah does have a list of who those invitations should go to um City members and members in the community and of course business owners and the artists but um who beyond that and then I'll be working on designing those invites great that's excellent and the question also was um did we want to do professional invite paper I don't know if Sarah already thought about this or not but you know like I know we'll we'll send it out in email um but would it be nice to send out a official card invite to VIPs or not thoughts so you're so there would be kind of an Evite that's sent out to kind of everybody and you're asking just if there's just one additional like a paper invitation that would go to certain people or not do that kind of looking for your feedback as to whether what your thoughts are on that the whole commission I think it's a I think it's a good idea I think it do we spend money on that I guess well I guess like part of that is like you know how big is the scope of that you know so it sounds like if you want to do it to like the council members um and uh you know these business owners who are were buying these things and and uh maybe a handful of others I mean you could probably even hit up you know Leon Lily and U Reinhardt and uh any of our other local U government people things like that I think that's a great idea to to do something like that I think the cost doesn't seem like it would be that much you just like postage in the cost of making the things yeah if it's if it's buck and a half two bucks a piece for those things and if you're if you're keeping that to around you know under 50 I think that seems reasonable uh it's likely we would have to print those and purchase those within the next month before our next meeting yeah we get a vote on spending that money for sure um uh would have to $800 yeah yeah well and let's uh maybe hold off on that vote for a second because there was one other money spending vote we had in question on with snowy and this launch event I also don't know if it would come out of the event budget or our budget because initially I think we did discuss an event budget for this um but we would like to provide some refreshments Refreshments mhm and if it's coming out of our our budget as well we would like to vote on that yeah okay uh Brandy do you have any recommendations on that I would suggest that anything related to spending for the Arts commission would come out of the overall Arts budget okay so if you needed to modify Shi funds from one project to another sure probably yeah we just weren't sure if it was coming from the events budget for the final event the launch event I think at one point Sarah mentioned that to the yeah yeah cuz I'm trying to think did did we not have something for this as part of the event budget or no we did not well we didn't okay we did not well then I don't think it's um I mean you got branding and communication well we reallocated $300 to project snowy already for that um but that would make sense to fit under that and I'm seeing um project snowy we had $3,000 TR so and we reallocated 2575 to snowy was that for transportation on those things I can't remember why we did that several things added up to several thingsone we took we took $2,000 out of the mural budget to go to Project snowy um and then whatever else but it seems to but I don't think you have enough there's no other money in projects no then right okay no um I would also say we will likely have an excess of budget in the art cart and I can talk about that when we hit that but we can certainly take whatever snowy needs from the art cart at this point yeah I would think we would have art cart access as well but also I think branding and communication certainly makes sense at least for the cost of the invitations invitations yeah so can we uh take a I how do I take a vote I would like to vote on spending I would like to make a motion to spend up to $500 on Refreshments for the snowy event and up to $200 for invitations so a total of $700 let me ask one quick question yeah um how do you envision the refreshment situation working out we haven't discussed total details um when this was in the hands of krie ok the event planner I just remember one thing she mentioned was like powdered doughnut holes because it's like Little Snowmen kind of thing snowballs snowballs uh I don't know if we will go that kit or just really small things well do they still make those like hostest things the Snowballs they're they're horrible you know it was like that marshmallow thing over the chocolate and that had coconut on the top or something they're terrible but we'd love to see if we can get some appetizers clearly it needs to not be heat related but um something from local businesses would be nice and we're still kind of deciding the final details on that okay thanks did you have thoughts no I was just trying to Envision how they would art and refreshments combined how how would that work and it it's been explained to me yeah right did you want to finish oh we we made that motion the motion to spend up to $700 on refreshments and invitations and I would say that we we would allocate $500 from art cart and $200 from branding and communication do you that sounds $200 I know we just had graduation announcements made for my son and they came in at like less than two bucks a piece and then with stamps I don't think it should be that right okay that bad um does that sound feasible can I second the motion yeah I mean I think just to clarify where we would where we'd be pulling the money from yeah you want to second that car I second that okay all those in favor signify by saying I opposed okay motion carries all right so we're going to move uh $500 from the AR cart to snowy for the event and $200 from branding in Communications uh for invites is that everything we had on snow I think that is everything that we really need to share we're really coming into the final push and exciting and after our next meeting would be the reveal event and it would be great if anybody everybody can attend Y and you know like um you know like our I don't know if I I don't know if it's like promise but you know like our agreement basically with um the businesses is that you know like if you guys participate here we're going to promote you so uh really want to make that emphasis that we want to make sure that they feel uh that their P their purch yeah and so what we we should also think and maybe you've already thought about this but it would be wise to see if the mayor is available to say some a few words to thank the businesses and things like that and if not the mayor then maybe the city manager or both um but we should try and lock them down for that um and then I don't know if you need like a where's the unveiling going to be right by the Big Snowy yes is there any electrical outlets out there I wonder I have no idea because I wonder if you need a microphone or anything like that yeah who who's in charge of this event plan I know I now have a a portable PA system of my own I bought one yeah um so if you want to have a PA system out there for the purpose of of doing that um talk to you you can talk to me and uh because that would be nice because I don't know how many people would have but at least then if if anybody wants to speak or say something that um and even if it even if we get Leon Lily or Chuck weager or Victoria Reinhardt out and they want to say something I I think it's a great opportunity if you're going to bring people together and talk about this thing that we're doing to talk about what the arts and culture commission is doing not just project snowy but the fact that why we're here and you know why this group exists and how we're trying to change the city we going have the snowmen be covered up so there will be a grand reveal of unveiling each beautiful they're going to be positioned so that you can get photo ops by each of them it'll be yeah I think we really got to get the word out and make it a deal but it gives you know politicians a chance to kind of sell North St Paul a little bit too yeah so even any of the council members that would want to speak or something like that I think it's good opportunity pretty sure Lisa long might be there Perhaps Perhaps you better and and just to make sure when you said um getting the mayor and City manager to maybe say thank you U you're you're talking about the grand reveal day right or is it yeah before yeah for the grand for the big reveal EV yeah that's what you were thinking right yeah okay yeah not is there something else no I was just wondering like if you meant like oh he should like call them up and say like thanks for oh no you can do that too um but I I think at the event assuming you're going to have the purchasers the businesses who bought these things have some representatives there to for the big reveal of their own snowy um then it gives the the government officials an opportunity to thank them in person and you know talk about you know how great it is that we have their businesses in North St Paul and all that stuff yeah we should really send a save the date ASAP yeah yeah it's it's great it's really great yeah I yeah any other updates okay yeah I'm I'm I think it's fantastic and I think we really got to sell this uh event um and and you know I just it's awesome you've you this subgroup you've done great work and really appreciate it I mean I think for how long we've been talking about this thing um yeah so thanks for bringing it over the Finish Line well almost almost we can't spike the ball at the 5 yard line no um so no it's it's really great great and really happy to see this come into fruition it's going to be good thanks any other thoughts questions concerns when you send the invites um can you send one to the artists yes so that they will have that to save as an artist I'm asking yeah it's always nice to have that um what's the date of our next meeting it's June 5th I think it's the graduation day right right so Carrie you're going to be covering that one yep um and then the reveal is the next day that's right okay and can I ask our thing still says TBD do we have an official time for that what oh on the EV oh as far as time the the the that's a great question the time of the event that is a wonderful question the reveal event doesn't have a Time is that a Saturday Thursday Thursday I think after work yeah does anybody have opinions on a start time oh for sure similar to our meeting start time I kind of like that I mean it's I don't know I mean is it is it too late time for there's still a sun my yeah I mean my feeling is and plus we're going to have another month of extended day daylight but it my feeling is it gives people a time to get home from work and it gives people a time to even eat something before they come out if they wanted to let's say 6:30 6:30 I think it it just gives more people the opportunity to be there unless you were going to do it on a Saturday or something but I think we already pick the date sorry that'll be a good time for taking photos yeah excellent anything else that's snowy excellent excellent work I can't wait it's going to be great have spread out uh um okay murals Carrie or Sharon would you like to give an update on the mural project let you do it oh man okay well we had an awesome meeting and we sent our feedback to Sarah and she said do more do some more work on it so then we did and we came Sarah's gone and we have my now yeah thanks ma we love you already um uh I forgot what I was saying oh so we re we did some more work on it we've um followed the snowy plan which was what was requested of us and I think we have a a secure uh path moving forward um and then oh we wanted Brandy's input right uh where did yeah I think so I think because Brandy had given some of the feedback yeah Brandy was like do do this so Brandy I don't know if you saw what we sent back after the original thing yeah what sorry what's the question this is about the mural yeah uh proposal um and it's related to can you remind me what the mural proposal inails yep we we want to paint some murals in downtown and we don't know exactly where we don't we want we want businesses or Property Owners to apply or indicate interest to us as a subcommittee and so we came up with some parameters of what that looks like and I realized that not everything is perfectly um set in stone but that's because it's dependent on which businesses slash buildings and what they're willing to do yeah I think what my advice was regarding this the snowy plan was that we don't really know what we don't know when still T started thinking about how it's going to unravel I think that the process of um SE and whoever else was part of that snowy U plan development we were able to to brainstorm and ask the questions and then go about developing the answers and then having that document also is nice for Council presentation purposes yes so it's not necessarily a requirement but it's a way to guide the process yeah okay so so that's what we did and so we we put some more work into that and then sent it back to Sarah oh I don't know that I've SE okay so maybe you haven't seen the second one but to to make it short and sweet I think what we'd really love to do is just uh put a call out there to North St Paul businesses to see if there is interest um and and then we can begin to develop the the the program as we go with this thing so if we if it comes back and we have one business that's interested in doing a mural or we have six businesses that are interested okay well then we can figure out well what could we afford to do what are they interested in doing um because this would be something again that we would be working hand inand with the business to kind of help them execute it but ultimately it's their thing um and so uh we put we put some more parameters around that when we sent the second document so uh hopefully that would help but but ideally if we could get something out soon even via um uh our our city uh newsletter and the City website or something like that just saying hey within the next you know you know 21 days or something like that if you have an interest in in doing something like this please reach out we want to see what kind of interest there is right now we're hoping this would be a multi-year effort so that you know we can see what we learned this time through and if we get one business that wants to do something okay we'll work with them and see what comes out of that and then we then we can start to um further develop a process for future years as we continue this work and I think our timeline was to have something written and reviewed by staff so we could get some you know by the end of this month right and then put out the call for interested Partners um so um maybe what I could do is forward what we sent to Sarah yeah to okay my and then we could go from there yeah that sounds good if I could interrupt and suggest I think that the asking the question of the businesses is interested would also beg the question of well they're going to want to know what's what's going to be required of me and what's in it for me to y y so I don't know what those questions are going to be but that whole process of asking them if they're interested in participating is going to unravel a whole series of other things that we're going to need to figure out right and then in terms of Outreach right now I I'm not sure who's going to be the responsible party um who m is going to be able to turn to at this point because we don't have Carrie any I'm out after tomorrow um and the emails have been put on pause the city emails until we have a Communications person oh I don't know if you saw that say that again uh at the end of the last City email it said that the city emails were on pause until I didn't catch it that mean AR emails too no just news the up the newsletter newslet I must have not read that far sorry so is an opportunity instead of I mean I don't know but if you have somebody in mind bus a wall specific maybe just go knock we can do that too um you know we uh we just wanted to give equal opportunity as much as we could um but even if it's just for this first one to kind of test the waters and see what that's like to work with a business if we can find someone I'm wondering if this program could be like packaged in with the same concept as the business storefront redo so it's businesses can choose that or art so it's just kind of an economic development opportunity because people will come to see those and take photos and ET way I see it I've always kind of thought of it along those same lines okay so well do you recommend Brandy that we just maybe start reaching out to some businesses and see who might be interested and say hey we if you'll work with us we'll work with you and then we can kind of develop what this process will look like for for future use as well I don't think there's any harm in it okay good sounds great and our next sub team meeting might be downtown love it cool anything else you want to add no up like that okay utility boxes well um I could provide a update on the uh North High utility boxes but I know that um Laura and Sharon have done their own work and they guys are more than welcome to share your progress as well so for the utility boxes uh the the event of you know like of accepting you know like or I'll just call it a contest right an art contest for North High to participate in the utility box um that event did close on the 22nd and uh Sarah did share out the uh results of that so we did get um one excellent at least in my opinion one excellent uh submission okay and so we will be in talks with this artist and uh there's still needs to be a connection point between our um subcomittee group as well as far as next steps but uh we have ideas as far as like the execution of it so um nothing to share out um at this uh particular meeting here at this time but I think I think um I think it still will be a really great result and um and I guess like our question is I know you know like with Sarah changing positions ma will you be taking over our needs for utility boxes or yes I'll be the one has has Sarah um updated you on anything yet or you know she has um shared some information but I'll have to go and review them further okay yeah and we can talk um so that is the update for utility boxes at this time so see does that keep that project on schedule Oh yes thank you for that uh it is on schedule we um I I really hope that we could reach out to the artists really soon since um that already closed you know week or two ago so want to make sure that we stay in contact with the the artist and then um you know like we we had planned to do public voting which we can scrap and so that saves us time as well so we just need to get it out to the vendor um you like make a final decision get it out to the vendor and then um and that I anticipate to happen by miday at the latest okay great great and then if I can speak on what Sharon and I were able to do over the weekend um we went to meet Sue at the North St Paul Museum and get to dive into old photos of springborn yeah yes and um it was a lovely time going through old photos um we were looking for um specifically ones for the one outside of rodes MH and um they have a lot of those old photos that we think would be of interest so um Sharon and I would like to see what they're thinking um because they have some on loan from the museum but um Sharon took some pictures of options that we found as well so we will so pictures of that corner before it was Rod's corner but um very much downtown I think Rod does have a lot probably of that location their counter inside and things but um Sharon and I were looking for just the feel of the city you know events um people enjoying North St Paul so that's what we were looking for and we see some old cars and motorcycles and those as well cool that's a I think it's a great approach for downtown because so many people have so many memories of the old days of North St Paul so be neat so is that to cover like there's two utility boxes out there that that would be done on yeah not real huge but right there size most likely it will be a photo collage we think oh neat not one photo wrapped around parts of different photos to um get the feel of the passage of time Downtown North St Paul over the years neat aesome I like it kind of like what's in Max how they have all those different pictures exactly we really like the counter feel of of that Max has on their walls yeah that's neat like the same idea good deal um excellent great any anything else on that no okay uh artart Amanda and Raquel any update here yes yes uh Raquel and I met last month and I did not do my part after our meeting um which means I'm asking for things ad Haw here uh we decided on events through the whole year um what the projects will be for the June car show we are going to do paper plate cars oh great idea um we'll also have a second option a plan is to have a second option at each one that's either a coloring sheet or a single sheet paper that someone can color and cut out so that we can appeal to all ages for the F first music in the park in I think that's June we will do rock painting okay for the second music in the park we are going to do what I'm lovingly calling trash art and for this we'd like to ask also for donations of any craft supplies but the for that event we will really just put out everything we have and let kids go wild oh wow I bet I got a bunch of stuff paper rolls paper rolls I haven't been saving those see any boxes like uh popsicle sticks glue I don't know what else we have in the art cart but really that one should be really fun just create whatever you want we should just have all kinds of junk in there yeah um so develop programming green got it sounds like you got that how are you doing for volunteers for these events or are you still searching I do not have an update on that um I was going to get from Sarah and my email you and Sarah together uh Sarah had a list of churches that were willing looking for volunteer opportunities and I haven't gotten contacts for that yet so once we get that we can send it out to them um so the one one thing I did not plan for the packet here is I'd like to spend some money great for the initial Car Show event we need supplies for these paper plate cars uh that includes paper plates some colored tissue paper some colored construction paper and then I don't know if the cart already has enough glue scissors and a stapler but we can check on that um if I am purchasing just the supplies um not including the glue scissors and staplers I'm asking for $30 to also include the glue scissors and stapler that's an additional $61 I would like to spend $100 but you're not going to spend it you're asking for I'm asking for yeah so and I don't think I mean it's coming out of the budget it's yeah I don't think we need to vote on that we don't need to vote on it okay I wasn't sure if we had to go through the process if it's already in the bud I think you can I think it's I think it's nice that you're you're stating that this is how much we're going to use from the budget but I don't think we have to vote because it's already allocated to this and your I'll say that likely will be looking at the rest of our projects that might be all that we need to spend for the rest of the Year great well yeah so we can pull well we pulled 500 bucks out of it tonight so um um because we purchased supplies at the end of last year so we already had a couple of projects that we got things for we had talked about this before for the art cart and I don't know if we ever did it but did we could we get some like t-shirts or vests or something for volunteers could that could be in the art card cuz that's another probably more vests or something or like a a lanyard oh yeah apron would be great there are some aprons yeah I don't know if they're branded or anything but I do remember seeing aprons in there okay I think we should are they bright orange to match the no they're blue oh are they I think so like our t-shirts yeah I think someone should double check my it would be cool if we had you know North St Paul arts and culture thing on that I can look into that and bring it up at the next meeting just thinking of another way to kind of and use some of that fun well and it lets you know who there is actually working rather than just right a parent that's the thing I think we've always said we needed we need two volunteers to run the cart but it doesn't mean only two yeah cuz it's really good so I so June 14th I wanted to confirm that is the city night at the car show yes that date so that's where it's great it be great if everyone can be there for that cuz then you look at that and it's you know you don't have to stay there the whole time but just even poking around and wear your T-shirt and stuff like that because I think it's great to then if you got a couple people working at the carton with kids and then you got more who are drawing people in or drawing more kids in that kind of thing I think that's helpful so having more than two people is always good and then you have more use for some of those aprons and things yeah all right so I'll send those supplies over to my and she will get those ordered beautiful okay uh paint night Carrie yep we're all set for paint night oh I did hear that we have a weit list for paint night um really yes my friend was trying to get in she's like I'm weight listed I'm like really so um my I don't know if we could check with the artist and see if we could maybe open it up to I can't remember what we landed on for the number of attendees was it 16 June 17th one yep yep that first one um so I don't know if she's open to adding more but maybe we should look into Addie more I don't know it's up to her she's the professional so I will say her mandala looks beautiful and I yeah yeah did you say not no I didn't but are you going to volunteer that night what's that going to volunteer that night true that's my only update sorry all right I just have to say so great okay we're kind of rocking it yeah um so June excuse me so uh unve Grand unveiling of the snow's on June 6th and then uh June 14th art cart at the car show June 17th paint night full weight list standing room only What elsee 20th is the art card at the music in the park oh yeah and then and then another was the date in June for the art and we'll probably have our utility box at North High rap in June and that's going to happen in June yep Shez you better get a mural going we got to get a mural up I could happen we'll get it started we'll get things going and find out what kind of questions we get we got to save something for July that's right that in the Rod's utility box we get everything done do we get a vacation no you can take the rest of the month off oh thank you there always room for more art yeah oh this is uh but Fantastic look at the impact that we're going to have in the month of June it's amazing and it's all because of you volunteering to do this stuff see we always say why can't North St Paul have this it's like well we can it just takes people who want to do it and now we're doing it it's great it's great uh okay so any paint night that's it Carrie that's it okay thanks uh Autumn Arts Festival so I would only just look to May on that one because I think we got an email from uh Sarah about some potential needs for the Arts Festival do you need something I think it was something about um using an existing did you get that Amanda I got it um there were a few questions and the two things that I can follow up with this week immediately are the community craft supplies and the Art card activity um the layout I don't think we can do until much closer that was one thing on there well we can we use the layout from last year well yeah but um I don't know if we'll have more artists fewer artists right it it's going to be a fluid thing could we use that as just to get us to give people a sense of the layout and just say this is not final depending what we need Community logo for social media to send avenders and I was that the was that the logo that we used last year nope I was going to say I didn't remember that one I don't know where it came from do you have another one that we used last year uh Sarah ZKA created one last year I created a new one this year but that's not it Arts Festival let me check here Ric but we can follow up with my and Sarah about that okay yeah I I'm try checking quick if I had that logo and I I don't um the market report yeah I don't have any of those documents so we'll have to follow up with youi on that stuff otherwise that events Trucking along and we're waiting for a Communications or an event coordinator to bring it to the Finish unless we're going to take over cool any questions for you Ma on that well you know um Sierra did can I backtrack to the t-shirts um oh yeah yeah so I don't know if you guys had Sierra look into that information last time but she did find a vendor and the pricing would be the same as last year okay great so you know it'll be $22 for the uh each for the extra small to extra large okay $24 for the uh double XL and then $25 for the 3XL and so we would need to see if you're interested in going forward with that if so um what's everyone's shirt sizes so that we can make an approval for purchase I think I think I'm are we are these new shirts it's the same shirt I think it's just for our new members oh we've had okay a lot of new members coming Farm says that she's looking at 15 shirts so what we were were we getting more shirts for something I don't know for volunteers or or for the art card I don't remember I remember like volunteer shirts that sounds for more than just yeah extras that said volunteer on the back okay was it okay I feel like I remember that well our the shirts we got last year say volunteer on the back okay they do haven't taken mine out don't look at that yeah um yeah I don't know so well we can get a quick count here for sure of what we need so and I don't know if you want to just have folks give you sizes at the end of the meeting after okay so because Raquel Sharon Laura everybody else have one um my and then whoever else um but then I think you know I think that should be fine as for the budget as long as we're not ordering 15 I mean no we have branding and Communications is $2,000 so order 30 of them no um I mean should we get some for our artists for our snowy artists it might be nice to I mean we talked about doing it for Taylor but it didn't make sense to just get one shirt but it might be nice to have something you know to gift to an artist like hey you know wear this out and represent North St Paul would we have them by uh the unveiling by June 6th I don't know I bet they could turn it around in that much time it's a graphic traffic they're pretty fast but if the back says volunteer we'd want to change that for their say artist yeah do that then you got to get sizes from all those people I yeah maybe it's too complicated is I think too complicated to have done by by then June 6 could be unless we could somewh rapidly get I'll say that communication with some artists has been slow and some is Speedy so if we're waiting on sizes from all artists we may wait until that time you get what you get you order them an extra large and hope for the [Music] best uh I don't know do we want to do the artists let's go thumbs up or thumbs down on that one say no thumbs down Okay so let's just do the one that we need ma okay um so I'm thinking I'm counting four including you Ma so I don't know who else un unless you get back to Sarah and she's like well they wanted shirts for this if Sarah says there's a reason why we need 15 I trust her um but I don't know who that would be for I only wear mine for official events so it's got plenty of life left in it another one yeah yeah yeah I'd like a a roomier size a roomier one yeah okay yeah like a like a large something go check in with my after the meeting we'll approve that okay uh so I think that covers that the T-shirt order then ma okay anything else from your end um let's see here and you know as you have already mentioned earlier there's $1,700 left on the communication and branding line item um that's about it on my end okay um did I discuss my new project quick oh yes we forgot about that sorry man yeah please go ahead uh it's likely I'm proposing this for 2025 and kind of hoping for a tie-in with the community center but if you know about the free little libraries that people have around I wondering if we would like to do a free little art gallery and the way I Envision it would be inside of the community center uh a box up on the wall with a glass door or something um to have little art you can take one leave one or just view the art I think that's a great idea and because I could give you a ton of stuff if it could be it would need to be a little bit bigger of a little well I'm thinking little art literally means little art I think like wall hangings I got wall hangings coming out of my in the crawl space in the basement I got all these things you know what am I going to do with all this stuff it's like the free art Fridays thing where people hide art around the Twin Cities that size of stuff uh yeah just little little things um like Laura was just saying you can I would be happy to take take on this project when and if it can happen but um you can design it as if it is an art gallery all these White Walls little benches with little people in there and oh that's a great idea diesel set up but I just think that would be a fun project specifically for the community center especially if it can be indoors um and easier to maintain and you know what you could do is you could coordinate with u the skate shop downtown cuz they have little skateboard thing in the basement have you seen that with your fingers yes you've brought it up that's just crazy I think yeah have you seen it I haven't seen it but I've seen the little they were a thing it's really neat finger boarding it yeah I like I didn't think it would be like much of a thing to look at but then these kids with their fingers it's good it's great but it seems like it go well with little art yeah anything else Amanda I just wanted to bring that up as project for next year keep the ideas coming keep the ideas coming but no on that one oh okay got it I will go to the city [Laughter] council um old business any old business anybody want to cover kind of do that already uh reports from staff for so budget update for May and then event planner ma do you want to walk us through that um kind of gone through most of the budget already yeah so so in the budget here we have already talked about briefly over the session here um so the budget report here indicates that um you know I mentioned about the amount $1,700 left on the communication and branding line item that's what Sarah had instructed for me to update okay I don't know if that's something that you guys had wanted to know in the last that might have just been tying with the t-shirts okay yeah that's good yeah and then pretty much the um t-shirts that you know Sarah had asked me to bring up and get everyone's sizes do we need to make a vote on that or I don't think so I mean it's just that's for sure coming out of branding and Communications okay budget right um and it looks like that's going to be what 100 150 bucks maybe at most so and then we will be subtracting that other 200 from that for the snowy event correct and then um also for you guys had already mentioned about you know the sign up sheet for you know the snowy paint day um if we could get more volunteers that would be great uh when you whenever you get the chance take a look at the email and then just send me an email I I'll put your name to it next to whatever time slot you're available yep yeah that's pretty much about it for me mik could I ask um you said so for the snowy watch for like people who could make whatever time did Sarah share an update on what signups have come through so far she did and I do have that sheet so if I um you know if I could emailed you guys that sheet too perfect we get a more updated record that' be great okay everything good then for budget and event planner key things folks um so uh yes please do I'm just going to repeat what M just said and please do get uh volunteer times over to my to to help uh uh watch the artists at the community center um other key things are so uh June 5th is our next arts and culture commission meeting and then the next day is the great unveiling of Snow's um so I think those are the those are the big things we need to know right now so um if everyone could please try and uh get back to my by maybe even end to day tomorrow or at least the end of the week on possibilities for being able to watch uh artists that'd be very helpful can we reiterate the dates for the watch what date through what date let me pull up the calendar here I think it was even less than what's on this I think it was like the 16th to the 26th or something 15th to the 28th but I think there was no one signed up for the 15th because I oh yeah there is there are now oh there are now okay oh oh so when I got okay so not all the artists had signed up okay so it's like a shared uh document that people are adding to no no no oh so yeah May 15th 10 to 7 16th 10 to 7 17th 10 to 7 there's just one artist on that day but remember I will be weekdays I will be there 10 to 5 that's awesome so two hours a day on the 15th 16th 17th 5 to 7 is all we need covered and then the weekend so May 18th 19th we've got 8 to 4 both of those days and then we're 10: to 7 Monday Tuesday Wednesday no and 2:30 to 7 on Thursday Friday May 24th so now I understand this that we're getting into a memorial weekend but 4 to 7 p.m. on May 24th it uh May 2 2 4 is a Friday and I know I said 10 to 5 on weekdays but it would be helpful if somebody took the 4 to 7 for me that whole day um and then we've got 8 to 4 that Saturday and Sunday and 8 to four on Monday and then 10 to 7 the following Tuesday and that's that's it then so uh yeah so a lot of hours to cover there and I wonder too some of these are it's interesting because some of these artists have many slots that and some of them might just their their art may be a lot more complicated than others one some only doing two yeah one artist there is doing two snowy she oh really um and I'm also curious on the times that were selected that's basically the times that we said we would be open so it's possible that people will not be there that entire time mhm y yeah so definitely need you know 5 to seven on the weekdays and the weekdays or the weekends I'm sorry so 5 to seven on the weekdays and 8 to four on the weekends cool so any help you can uh offer would be great and we only need one person there right yeah and please take pictures while you're there gotcha okay um well you can kind of do any you could you're sitting at the community center hanging out you could do whatever you want right I will be bringing my work along with me good okay um we got that so that covers all those okay so reports from Commissioners item number 10 so I always like to start all the way down on this end so Rael you're first any updates you have nothing here nothing there Sharon I do not have anything to add okay Carrie nope thanks um and for myself I would just say uh first of all thanks to everyone for all of your hard work especially in between the meetings we making great progress and getting a lot done this year already um and uh just a reminder that I will not be here at the next meeting uh I will be at my son's graduation from high school if everything goes well keep working Jack there's more homework to do yet um but I think I think that's it otherwise see uh I'd like to say happy American Asian Pacific Islander month to everybody and um no real updates except that there yes there is really no updates all the stuff that you've already given up yes and including for the uh the the culture committee which I know is still um pending so that's all I have nothing Laura just want to say happy birthday to Sarah who's not here tonight oh Sarah's birthday today oh happy birthday Sarah um reports from Council Lea on Lisa yeah so um I want to preface that I was out for 3 weeks so I was not um totally engaged and haven't been updated yet um haven't checked in with the city manager but I can let you know what um I do have um the community center so there's been a lot of discussion around that and it will continue to go on I believe um during um uh workshops and um my understanding is that every session that we have will be open to the public for comment as well so um that not typical for workshops but that's something that um the council wanted and so um please continue to stay engaged in the community center and then um let's see I also wanted to say when I was gone I was at a conference and um it was about public participation and um there was one city in or small town in Wisconsin that had um a lot of social media um going up with like their little dragon sculptures that got painted so um yeah there's models out there in terms of you know making it more of a instagrammable situation or what have you or movement whatever you want to call it um Council and finance director have started the uh budget talks for the next year seems like it never ends doesn't it yeah but you know I I do appreciate now that we have a little bit more time to have discussion and we start earlier rather than trying to Sure push things through so it's a little bit more intentional but yeah it's it's a majority of the time it feels um [Music] and may there is a um a dump day so you can take your stuff to um Public Works I'm sorry I don't know the date time May 11th thank you I know I'm really excited May 11th in the morning there will be traffic um and then there's also the citywide yard sale and um yeah just keep keep your eye out for those events um and then if anyone is still interested in Turtles um there's a campaign op opportunity um and then let's see I think that's just about all I have um I can take questions if I know something and answer them um do you know when the high time for the turtle migration is I I don't okay Blanding Turtles is what they're called so you can look it up um but I did want to say a big thank you to Brandy how you've been uh really wonderful and very supportive and um I know this has been a big lift we've got a lot of projects going but um surely we we appreciate you and um Good Luck what are you doing Brandy don't know yet oh okay I'm gonna go on a bike ride around like Superior oh wow that's cool good for you um that's awesome well yeah well thanks for your service when you're working for the city in any way it is kind of like it's like going to war right so thank you for your service um okay anything else any other questions for Lisa if not I'll entertain a motion to adjourn this meeting I'll make a motion to adjourn this meeting thank you see a second second thank you Amanda all those in favor say I I opposed meeting is adjourned thank you everybody
