[0:00] You know, if I have somebody who's just [0:02] experienced their first psychotic [0:04] episode, not only is it really scary and [0:06] they don't understand what's going on, [0:08] but I really stress that you're not a [0:10] diagnosis. You have symptoms and [0:13] symptoms we can treat. [0:17] My name is Marcia Nelson. I'm a [0:19] psychiatric mental health nurse [0:21] practitioner and I've been working at [0:23] the county in this position for 3 and [0:25] 1/2 years. Besides working and seeing [0:28] the need um for mental health [0:30] professionals, I have family members [0:32] that have struggled with mental health [0:34] and substance use as well. And so [0:36] knowing that I'm giving treatment to [0:38] people in an unbiased way is really [0:40] important to me. Before coming to the [0:43] county, working with more private [0:44] places, you feel like you're basically [0:46] seeing people, giving them meds, they're [0:48] out the door. And I think working at the [0:50] county, it's really let me connect with [0:53] individuals more. So, it's not this [0:55] 15minute increment. I often spend more [0:59] time letting people talk than maybe I [1:01] should, but I think it's important to [1:03] just have people know that they're being [1:05] seen, they're being heard, and we can [1:07] help.
