[Music] this is our annual so Soapbox Derby which is a a compilation of rec centers and young people from across the city that uh compete down at hdden Falls Regional Park and this is the first year that we've included our friends uh from across the river in Minneapolis so we have a bit of a a border battle going on behind me right now it's sponsored by Minneapolis and St Paul uh parks and by uh tools for teens which is my charity that I run and I've been doing that for uh 15 years figuring out different ways of getting uh tools into the hands of kids and I've given away uh $66,000 worth of these tools my idea was to uh uh get all the all the kids that otherwise wouldn't have any exposure to something like this the ability to use tools to to get their hands on tools and be proud of making something you know be able to point at something that they could be proud of not only is it fun but the buildup to the events they get to build their own uh their own car and get to race it and you know there's a lot of teamwork and camaraderie that goes into that but also a lot of learning as well everybody's a winner
