Beyond the economic development agenda, the City Council addressed a range of community-focused resolutions during the session. These included honoring a distinguished military veteran, celebrating a global spiritual leader, and recognizing the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Council Member Yang brought forward Resolution 26-1028, recognizing the life and legacy of Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ku Bisa Vang. The resolution also proclaimed July 11-13, 2026, as memorial days in his honor. Pete Vang, Dr. Vang’s son, spoke movingly about his father’s dedication to the city and his service.
