A board member requested postponement due to concerns about the quick turnaround of information, lack of full board discussion outside committee, and public transparency. Other board members lauded Dr. Redmond's consistent performance, the district's financial and cultural improvements under his leadership, and the stability he brought to the role.
Notable Quotes (7)
This is an increase from from last year when I came here by a little over 2,000.
we're doing this in 2026, payable in tax year 27, so it will impact the fiscal 28 or 27-28 school year.
these final numbers you see reflected here was not were not something we came to quickly. This is something we worked out through several meetings.
The numbers that you see reflected here are They're they're still below if you look at comparable districts. These numbers kind of get you know we talked about the teachers in past SEA negotiations. We wanted to get the teachers you know closer to the middle of surrounding districts. This is kind of along those same lines but there are still many many comparable districts that compensate their superintendent much more than Dr. Redman.
I would like to uh postpone this decision beyond today for a couple of reasons, partially just the timing of this. This came out on Wednesday. I think we were originally planning to do this on the 22nd, and it was moved up to the 8th as far as signing the contract.
I know Dr. Redmond came into this district very low compensate with very low compensation for reason because school district couldn't afford to pay him, but he still chose to come here because he knew that he could help our district uh and get us to a better place.
The thing that struck me the most is the leadership committee. Under leadership all be defined. Um which is phenomenal, really. It's a grace. All right. As Christy said, going back to October of 2018 when you were hired when you go back to two previous years the amount of turnover between superintendents and you had obviously the death of Dr. Anger the one guy before him and then then there a couple of interim superintendents plus the amount of finance directors that we went through um in the the couple of years between when you were hired the stability that you brought to this district is to be commended.
