KENT R. THIELEN, M.D. - Class of 2026 Distinguished Hall of Fame On behalf of the Shakopee Alumni Association A proud 1982 Shakopee alumnus and accomplished student-athlete, Dr. Kent Thielen went on to build a distinguished career in medicine and healthcare leadership. After earning degrees from South Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Dr. Thielen joined Mayo Clinic (originally in Rochester, Minnesota), where he served as a physician, professor and leader for more than three decades. At the time of this award, Dr. Thielen is Vice President, Mayo Clinic and CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida, guiding one of the nation’s leading medical centers. Dr. Thielen previously served as chair of the Mayo Clinic Department of Radiology in the Midwest and the chair of the Division of Neuroradiology in the Department of Radiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Radiology with additional Certificate of Added Qualifications in Neuroradiology.
