Today [0:11] we're at Tapa Park and Joe Schleeper [0:13] Stadium where the much anticipated [0:15] Miracle League field is being [0:17] constructed. Miracle League helps remove [0:20] barriers to playing baseball by [0:21] providing wheelchair accessibility, [0:23] implementing a buddy system that pairs [0:25] players with volunteers, and using [0:28] league play rules that celebrate ability [0:30] over competition. The field itself will [0:33] have a rubberized turf surface that is [0:35] mobility device accessible. Dugouts are [0:38] designed to provide wheelchair access, [0:40] and on the field, bases and mounds are [0:42] painted onto the surface to remove [0:44] raised obstacles. The field is made [0:47] possible through the partnership of many [0:49] different organizations within Shakabe [0:51] and beyond including the city of [0:53] Shakape, Shakabe Lions Club and [0:55] Foundation, Cigars and Baseball, the [0:58] Shakape Baseball Association, local [1:01] businesses and families, and the Lions [1:03] Club International Foundation. Miracle [1:06] League Field had its groundbreaking in [1:08] May and is anticipated to be complete in [1:10] fall 2025. [1:12] And that's the dig.
