[Music] hi I'm council member Tony Kata and this is our Cottage Grove Council update as we approach road construction season I wanted to provide an update on some of the larger upcoming projects that will be happening in Cottage Grove this year our largest project that starts its second and final year of construction is the East Point Douglas Road and Jamaica Avenue construction project last year we saw the beneficial improvements that happened on Jamaica Avenue this year Construction in the area will continue with the construction of the roundabout at East Point Douglas Road between Target and Cub Foods the contractor plans to begin in early April with installing traffic control and erosion control the first phase of this year's construction will be the full closure of East Point Douglas between the signaled intersection near Target and Cub Foods as well as 92nd Street to construct the roundabout the roundabout will provide access to Cub Foods and the target mall parking lots we anticipate this closure will remain in place until mid July completion of the full project is anticipated for later this fall in the same area the city is proposing to complete a Mill and overlay on Jamaica Avenue from 80th Street to 90th Street the work would include removing and replacing the top 2 Ines of pavement and some minor curb and utility r repairs it's anticipated that two-way traffic will be open throughout the project it is assumed the contractor will work on the Northbound Lanes first and then traffic will switch while the southbound lanes are being addressed phase two of construction of the South District Street and utilities project continues this year construction is anticipated from mid April through mid August the project realigns 100th Street and 103rd Street as well as Hadley Avenue in accordance with the County's Southwest arterial study and includes utility connections streetcape Trails storm water management lighting and Landscaping temporary closures will be necessary throughout construction to connect the realign segments we are also working on safety enhancements at the intersections of River Oaks Golf Course and zivix garden center the city is leading a project in coordination with mindat to implement a restricted Crossing u-turn along Highway 61 at the entrance once construction is complete left turns will no longer be allowed at the current intersection and it will be a right turn in right turn out only with a restricted Crossing uturn to cross to the other side of the highway construction is anticipated for July through November and will require periodic lane closures though Highway 61 will generally stay open throughout construction to learn more about these projects please visit the city's website thank you for for joining me in this month's Council [Music] update
