Hello, Cottage Grove. I'm Mayor Myron Bailey, and there's so much to look forward to this fall. The season brings crisp bear, colorful leaves, and community spirit right here in our city. On October 25th, Strawberry Fest hosts the 16th annual Monster Bash Parade at 10:00 a.m. The parade marches down East Point Douglas Road and is always full of costumes, floats, and candy for all ages. Then head over to the Dodge Nature Center at Shepherd's Farm for the Halloween Extravaganza from noon to 400 p.m. for woodland trick-or-treating, wagon rides, games, and fun science performances. Later in October, make your way to the Zix Haunted Experience on Highway 61, home to Minnesota's longest running haunted hayride and a dedicated haunted house experience. During the day, check out their fall funfest for a lighter, family-friendly version of the haunt with pumpkins, lights on tours, and more. On Wednesday, October 29th, you won't want to miss the spooktacular night at the ice arena. Join us for an evening as we transform our ice rink into the ultimate family-friendly spooky experience. The first session is from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and the second session is from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Bring your skates and Halloween attire and we'll provide the decorated settings, music, party lights, fog, and other scary goodies. And to close things out, a fan favorite, the pumpkin chuck at Oakwood Park on Tuesday, November 4th. This free family event is in a new location this year, so bring your pumpkins to toss and roll them down the hill. We hope you'll join us. Whether you want a few friendly frights or a gentle family oriented fun, fall is a magical time in Cottage Grove, and I look forward to seeing our neighbors and families out making memories this season. Be safe, dress warmly, and enjoy every haunted hayride, haunted house, wagon ride, and pumpkin toss. Happy fall, Cottage Grove.
