we don't want to lose our local paper and this long-standing relationship we've had with them reporting on the goings on in the district putting it wouldn't make sense to put the minutes in the pioneer press but more so that you know they have the superintendent corner they have our principal featured teaching and learning can add an article I heard from booster club parents that still want that same value in the paper that they subscribe to with the pictures and the announcements for theater activities, sports, um when the students get state championships. So I think there's a lot of value in maintaining that and the importance of that relationship to continue with Forest Lake times.

there are services out there that contractors rely on whose job it is to scan for different bids, whether it's bids on public equipment purchased for public entities such as school districts. you think about the dishwasher bids that we put out previously, that's going to appeal to a certain set of vendors or contractors.

We'd be leaning on pair professionals who work within a program, thinking of a setting three program that have great familiarity with the students and who are daily members of the team working with those students. When the teacher is absent, the paraprofessional would step into this role and kind of provide that lead instructor educator for the day of the absence, which because of the knowledge and familiarity of the pair professional in that situation, they're more valuable than a sub, a licensed teacher sub who may not have knowledge of the students or the programming taken place on the program.

especially when it it comes to point number five here in the resolution about uh compensation, the hourly rate plus $2 or $25 an hour, I would encourage um administration to get this worked into the appar professional agreement um for the next time it comes to the board uh just to make sure that we remain competitive with those numbers and we keep it in line.

Each of these individuals um the first three uh Laura Tubs, Adam Fudin, Alex Ivan have primarily a specialty in the special education realm and provide guidance and counsel in special education legal matters. Joseph Langel has a great deal of experience with uh contracts and um legal matters with other government entities uh where we share public space roadways with the city of Forest Lake for instance working out those arrangements.

I would offer to the board that we are still short, if not vulnerable with with in in the area of of a need for general legal counsel. So, it's still a matter I believe that the board will need to address and we'll continue to u provide opportunities for the board to address that with names that that we could easily bring to the board for your approval.

Overall, the project um ended up at just over $5.4 million. So, that is on budget. We're looking at overall about 7.5 million to go into that building. Um once you put in all of the associated costs with your architects, your construction managers, and all your soft costs that go along with that.

I'm glad it's it's ISG and Carl Anderson, too. Yes. I mean that they have they know our buildings. They're just always in the know. They've been through our BR, you know, the bond projects. So, it's nice to have consistency.

Uh this is our third summer using -ate dollars. Uh and so we're here tonight to ask permission to post what's called a form 470 which allows again through the - process us to get um 60% federal funding for our technology and then 40% district. So a great revenue source for us.

he just kind of rises to the top with me in terms of some of his STEM work, um his mentorship work, um just how he's been a leader with a comealong. I like what he talks about that I like to get people to come along. I don't like to be on them. I want them to come along as we talk and get to know each other. And I found that that has helped me to get to know him and understand his background better.

so they're all really great candidates, but they just they don't fit for whatever reason. Are we done voting yet or aren't we doing one more here still?

I feel like the outcome is uh predained here, but um I would like to say um you know member or Dr. Peace uh he's been here, he has spoken. He has again uh kids in the district and he started up the middle school science club. I believe he's very involved.

I'd just like to say first of all before we do a last voting round here, I did also meet with all three people and I agree with what everyone at the table so far has said is that everyone has a great background, history, and willingness and um desire to serve. And I appreciated meeting with all of them. And I don't understand board member Christensen's comments about we know where this is going. I don't

I was hoping we would have a another board member here appointed tonight, but uh I would recommend that we um direct administration to get that board self- evaluation scheduled with MSBA so that we can get that work uh moving forward.

I spoke with MSBA the and we're th this policy in front of you is largely an adoption of their model policy. So, in speaking with Terry Marorrow at MSBA, he clarified that the intent of that item was in in regards to agenda items, not public comment. So, I would propose that the board consider a modification to the language there that would read persons who wish to have and then we strike subject discuss at a public school board meeting um to read persons who wish to have a topic added to the school board agenda are encouraged to notify the board president.
