Approve Joint Powers Agreement for Nutritional Services
Moved by Member Antonson [17:39] · Seconded by Unknown [17:41]
The board discussed renewing a joint powers agreement with Fidley, Centennial, and Ashago schools for nutrition services to leverage bulk purchasing power for food items, aiming to decrease pricing. It was clarified that Forest Lake takes the administrative role but there are no fund transfers between districts; each district maintains its financial autonomy and menu choices. The agreement starts a process to send out an RFQ for a prime vendor.
Permission to Bid Forest View Elementary Renovations
Moved by Member Tyson [20:18] · Seconded by Unknown [20:20]
The board was asked to approve bidding for extensive renovations at Forest View Elementary. This project is larger than the recent Wyoming Elementary renovation and will include new windows, roofs, doors, mechanical systems, flooring, and lighting. The mechanical system upgrade at Forest View is more complex, moving from individual air handlers to a more efficient centralized system. The project is anticipated to span two summers, with bids to be published in early November in the Pioneer Press. A board member inquired about window R-value for energy efficiency.

by joining up the district. So great work um by our supervisor of nutrition services uh Paige Albert to to bring this so by joining with just will that you think incre decrease the pricing if you have more yeah volume matters. So yeah I think on on some items you know it's always good to to again have more volume and that's what what gets you that price power.
Forest Lake takes on that administrative role in this joint powers. But it doesn't what it doesn't do which is really important to understand is um obligate us to any financing anything for other districts, right? Everyone is their own separate entity.
Forest View is a bigger project than Wyoming. As I said, it was super great to have Principal Ernest there uh at Wyoming to see what his future holds. They're also um getting some windows. Uh again, they will also have the roofs, the doors, uh the mechanical, the flooring, and the lighting that Wyoming had.
So, with the windows, there is a large difference in how many pains there are in the R value and the price. But the better the R value, then the less you're going to spend on energy. So the higher price of those windows that have the better RV value are probably going to be worth it. So I would recommend at least a three pane.
