So, whichever side can establish [2:18] their defensive presence first is going [2:19] to have the edge. I think the onus is [2:21] more on Mameidi because their strength [2:23] of schedule not quite as high as Tartans [2:25] to start the season. [2:26] >> Mike, you mentioned you talked to both [2:28] coaches before the games, Mark Quinc and [2:31] Keith Newan. 54 years of varsity [2:34] coaching experience between these two. [2:36] In your opinion, who's got the upper [2:37] hand tonight? That is a true tossup. You [2:41] think about all the athletes who have [2:42] come through here and all of the talent. [2:44] In Tartan's case, they seem to have that [2:47] one Achilles heel and that's being in [2:49] the same section as some of the powers [2:51] like Cin Durham Hall and Eastridge. And [2:53] for Mameidi, [2:55] it's going to be no picnic either. But [2:56] when you have two coaches with that much [2:58] experience behind them, there aren't a [3:00] whole lot of surprises. It comes down to [3:02] execution. Both of these teams in [3:05] different they are in different classes, [3:07] but they are in the same section number [3:10] that being four. And as you mentioned, [3:12] it has been a difficult time for both of [3:14] these schools making it to the state [3:15] tournament with other schools in their [3:18] sections. We are doing the starting [3:20] lineups right now for both teams. As we [3:23] take a look at Mark Graph, he had a game [3:25] high in points, 29 against Stillwater on [3:28] December 4th in a 78- 58 victory. And then you look at [28:16] the other two there and although Tartan [28:18] has lost a couple key seniors to [28:20] graduation, you've see they've built [28:21] another really great team. [28:23] >> When you think about all the players [28:24] that came back this year, folks like [28:26] Pride, King Oasani, Gorgon, they're all [28:29] seniors. And as you know, Carl, you've [28:33] covered your fair share of sports. Every [28:36] team goes through that turnover, some [28:38] more than others each year. But Mark [28:41] Lingsborn, he's been at this for about [28:44] 30 years, if not longer. And when you [28:47] have someone who is able to cultivate [28:49] talent and make them a competitive [28:51] force, it doesn't take a lot to find new [28:55] leading scorers as coach Carter once [28:57] said. [38:58] What impresses me most Carl is Tartan's [39:01] maneuverability and their agility. They [39:04] are able to navigate tight spaces. [39:06] They've gotten mameidi a few times on [39:08] slashes. We saw several defensive hustle [39:11] plays that led to points and just enough [39:13] outside shooting to open up the driving [39:16] game. [39:17] >> And Mameidi, it just feels like they've [39:20] always been a step behind Tartan at this [39:22] point, especially when on offense. [39:24] Tartan has been able to get the good [39:25] pokeins and Tartan has made almost no [39:28] mistakes very patiently when they're on [39:31] offense.
