And our first or our next [15:02] section is going to be focused on the [15:03] themes of water, tears, trials, and the [15:07] long flowing journey of life, which [15:09] almost mirrors a river. [15:13] >> Um, the pieces in this section evoke [15:15] feelings of reflection in the journeys [15:17] of searching that must be taken to get [15:19] to a better place. Our first song in [15:22] this section is an American folk song [15:24] sung by our tener bases called 900 miles [15:26] which tells the story of a forlorn [15:28] traveler trying to make his way home. [15:30] This piece was composed by Philip E. [15:32] Sylvvi who currently teaches at [15:33] Rochester University. The second song in [15:36] this section is called City Called [15:38] Heaven which is composed by Josephine [15:40] Pollinitz and it has the style of a [15:42] traditional African-American gospel [15:44] piece and we have two soloists tonight [15:46] in that piece Zoe me and Daniel Paneda. [15:51] Um the following piece is time composed [15:53] by Jennifer Lucy Cook and performed by [15:55] our trouble choir Bavois. This piece [15:57] like much of her other compositions [15:59] prioritizes an infectious rhythm and [16:01] emotional pertinent lyrics talking about [16:04] in this case the human construct which [16:06] is time and how we let it dictate our [16:07] lives. [16:08] >> This section also holds [16:11] the second song sung by our teners and [16:13] bases called the river composed by Susan [16:15] Labar using the words of poet Bill [16:17] Kanes. It speaks the childhood [16:20] experience of a boy growing up along a [16:21] river and the connection he holds with [16:23] it. [16:23] >> Then the final piece of this section is [16:25] our second um treble song, Stopping by [16:29] Woods on a Snowy Evening. Um it's [16:31] composed by Ruth Artman and uses the [16:33] words of Robert Frost's um poem of the [16:35] same name. Uh this song uses a little [16:37] bit of rhythm and notes just to kind of [16:40] try and show or like make it able make [16:43] you able to hear the words that we're [16:45] singing. The piece is [34:32] about moving forward and a hopeful [34:33] journey after we depart from this world. And that includes Quinn [46:17] Nettleton, [46:22] Tegan Evans, [46:27] April Nelson, [46:32] and oh, Mia Weineberger. [46:38] We've also had someone make the Midwest [46:41] Regional Honor Choir, which is quite a [46:44] task out of many, many auditions, and [46:46] that is Elelliana Jesperson. [46:53] In February, she'll be going to warm, [46:55] sunny Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [46:59] >> Are you ready? [47:01] And this year we uh have had an [47:03] All-State member as well. Uh Emerson [47:05] Buckley got to go to two. [47:12] Got to go to All State camp in August [47:14] and spend a week working with her fellow [47:16] choir members, SATB choir members. She [47:19] gets to go to orchestra hall in [47:21] February, February 14th, and perform um [47:23] her songs again with the rest of the [47:25] choir.
