I've lived in Oakdale for 36 years. Yes. My wife and I built a home here when we were very young and raised our family here and I'm still here. At that time, Oakdale was about I don't know 12 10,000 people or so. So, it's tripled in size since I moved here. Grocery stores and theaters and banks. It's awesome. >> I, Gary Severson, >> do solemnly swear. do solemnly swear >> that I will support >> that I will support >> the constitution. >> Part of my motivation for running for council was to sort of uh carry on that legacy to to to m do whatever I can to to build a city that young families now can come and move to and and have a safe uh clean, well-maintained, affordable, well-run city to raise their families in like I had the opportunity to do. I think as leaders we have a duty to um to serve with with honor and civility. Um and I think as a council we at least in my year we've really embodied these principles. The pledge was about um >> you know our culture, our society is so divisive now politically so divisive and so the pledge is about working together setting our our differences aside political differences aside and working together for the common good finding consensus uh which is what I'm all about. You know, at city council and local governments, we are nonpartisan and we all bring our own beliefs, our own political beliefs and and uh our own life experiences with us. We all really, I think, put what's best for the city ahead of what what our own personal beliefs might be. And so sometimes we have to make compromises and sometimes we don't always get what we want. >> Yeah. Enjoy your day. >> Thank you. You as well. My predecessors on the city council over all those decades I think have done such an excellent job of you know growing the city, building the city, maintaining the city. Just a great place to raise a family.
