Abby Baker, Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations, presented the item, explaining that Minnesota statutes mandate the termination of long-term substitute teaching contracts. This action is necessary to prevent the district from allocating two teachers to a single position when regular teachers return from leave.

This contract is effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2028. It includes specific wage increases for bus mechanics (from $38.48 to $40/hr in Y1, then to $41.50/hr in Y2) and head mechanics, along with 12% increases to the district's health insurance contribution for high deductible medical plans in both years.

The economic costing of the tentative agreement includes the following. Um the first year of the contract effective July 1, 2026 is a 3% increase on wages. And then year two of the contract, July 1, 2027 would be a 2% increase on wages.

The bus mechanic wage increase from $38.48 to $40 per hour effective July 1, 2026 and $41.50 effective July 1, 2027. And for the head mechanic wage increase from $42.33 to $43.83 effective July 1, 2026 and to $45.33 effective July 1, 2027.
