Um Executive Director's report, please. Uh the only thing I have for you tonight is that we are replacing the uh portable restroom surrounds at all the parks now. So, we have the metal and everything and they're fabricating it now and then we'll put Pioneer Park's in and we have to pour a new pad for uh Loveland Park, but we'll get that one in, too, and um only other question I have for the board is do you want to continue having those um bulletin boards at the parks? And they seem they they don't get much use and there's a lot of graffiti and vandalism that happen to them. And that's that's >> Or if we want to think of something different to do or But I agree with what you're saying that the boards cuz they just take a lot of abuse and yeah. Well, I I guess I kind of liked them for the the few things that we did do. I mean, obviously, we don't have the one at um um Lions Park anymore. Um but um you know, if nothing to advertise the well, I think the one I liked the best was down at Busy Beaver. And that never got replaced. Um the one at Loveland, you know, most people aren't in that particular area um except if they're there for like a tournament or something and then I don't know that they're really looking at it. Um and I don't know about the one at um Bailey School Forest, how much that gets looked at by I I I guess I'm looking at like younger families when we're trying to advertise. But it would be nice if there one was was one at Busy Beaver. Because they do pass that every time they go into the park. But I think the others, I would say no. And I think even the one the one at um Bailey School Forest hasn't had a cover on it in a long time. As soon as we put a cover on, the next day it's gone. Yeah. So. Um I I mean, I I I think if the others all come down, I think that's fine. But I I wish we could get one back at Busy Beaver. Yeah, maybe we'll just look at a different design or something that >> Yeah. maybe a little more sturdy or um Well, I know the the um library there, the library on a stick, it's my neighbor, Tom Gagliardi, that keeps repairing that. And now he finally got the strongest Plexi glass he could get. And it has not been broken. That's good. So, after repairing it, I think he probably has repaired it five or six times over the years, but now they can't break it. Um so, I don't know, but then I don't know but I think that's clear enough to still see through, but you know, something a little sturdier, but and and and that's one that I drive by, you know, a million times a day. Probably not that many, but probably at least, you know, four to six to eight times a day I drive by it, so I kind of keep an eye on it. Um but I think the other ones we don't need to replace. And the one up at Loveland also, you know, every year there's a hornet's nest in it. So, um so when I go to put the flyers in for Family Fun Night, you know, I get swarmed out, so. Um if I can ask a question on the updating of the the portable bathrooms and stuff, the surrounds and stuff, so then the metal framing and then is that covered with composite? Okay. So, basically no maintenance and stuff that has to go into it. Okay, great. Great. All right. So, we covered anything else about the uh boards at the park? All right. Not hearing anything, we'll move on to uh Board member reports and stuff and I think we'll all probably talk a little bit about the uh Family Fun Night that we had January 31st. Um really thankful that we had uh I think a nice turnout and a very nice uh uh having all the firemen there. Your guys are a big uh big plus add added to the event and stuff. And of course, uh the tug-of-war is always a wonderful time for the kids and stuff. And uh it was a a good turnout and I I think we had a had a nice time, everybody, so. Um I guess I would agree. I think it was a you know, the the rink was good, the the the weather was good. Um I'm not sure what people were doing with my four hard sleds. Um I think they must have been coming down that hill and hitting the ice ice uh mounds because all four of them were broken. But they were hard plastic. So, I guess I I guess I brought them to actually put up to do on the ice, not to go down the hill. Um so, um I don't have any more of those hard sleds. Um but I think um everybody seemed to have a good time. Um you know, snacks went over well and I made two full pots of hot chocolate, so um I I think it went well and thanks to public works for getting all of those things ready, you know, the ice especially cuz that's always our iffy part. You know, the the weather itself, whether it be hot or cold, um isn't doesn't matter. It's whether we can have good ice. So, and I think it I think it went really well. I agree. I really really appreciate all the help running the games, too. I think that was a huge addition this year. >> Big help, yes. Um really helped to keep the games lively throughout the entire event, which allowed the park board members to kind of you know, mingle with, you know, families and do the luminary trail. So, that was a really fun addition as well was that trail walk. Well, and I think setting times for those games, which we've never done before. Which I think they all kind of merge for the whole night a little bit, but that's okay. Well, yeah, because we can leave the things out. >> Yeah. But as far as actually, you know, starting them and so on and you know, thanks to Steve Shotmiller for doing our um croquet game on ice um and making that new this year for us. That was really fun. So, um you know, that that works out really well. So, you know, and thanks for everybody for coming. Any idea of a head count? I I realized It's so hard to count. Um you know, I guess in the future I could count how many people I give hot chocolate to it except some come in and get a second cup. Uh but people kind of come and went came and went um cuz there were some people there when we got there and were ready to leave. And then, you know, it was kind of come and go. Um we could always use more smaller skates. So, if people are out and looking at and I'm not a garage sale person, but if you see anybody that's smaller skates um for the little ones, we could always use more smaller skates. Um but I guess I was I'm also surprised at how many people have their own skates, um especially the little ones because they all grow them so fast. >> Yeah, right. Um but um I think it was a a great night. So, I think we look forward to doing an event again next next month. >> I think so. All right. >> And then June will do the family fun night. What the last day of school >> It's a Tuesday night, the last week of school. Yeah, and cuz I'm looking at looks like the 4th might be the last day of of elementary school. So, I think the second probably I couldn't get the calendar to come up, but I think that's what it is. Um Yep, the last day of school, it would be the 4th. I mean, it would be that week. So, I think June 4th, I think that sounds good. June 2nd. Or June 2nd, I mean, I'm sorry. >> Okay. All right. And what is the normal time for that? I think don't we do the standard 6:00 to 8:00? Okay. Okay. And I know it's >> to 8:00. It's early at um So, like April, we can probably talk about uh ice cream truck, all that kind of stuff. >> Yeah. All right. And this would will be my first cuz it will happen, but it's in Loveland, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. Yes. All the good weather this year. >> And this Yeah, I was going to say and this year it's not going to rain or storm or Correct. You know, and cuz I hasn't it been 2 years in a row? Yes. Yeah, and it's just that night and yeah. 2 years ago, I remember Derek messaged us and stuff and you know, I think it was what was it they were saying like 6:00? It was like a 99% chance of rain and I swear to goodness, it was like 6:02. >> Yeah, it wasn't exactly pouring, you know, so yeah. Yeah, so we'll we'll hope for >> Yeah, and we can talk about that then in, you know, in April what we Or well, May, too. Um you know, what we're going to have and And sometimes um I mean, I think we found that having the equipment there, if they want to play ball, if they want to do the horseshoes, um but sometimes for just people to hang out and it's kind of nice in the pavilion. It seems like all the parents are just kind of hanging out there and talking and waiting for the ice cream truck to come. Yeah. So, um and they've been really good about, you know, scheduling it. Of course, I told them that they need to have, you know, extra stuff because the the year they did come, we ran out really soon. Um you know, because parents give the kids a $10 bill or a $20 bill and of course, you know, they can't just buy one because I have to get rid of that all that money. So, um I think that um that's kind of the highlight is the ice cream truck, so. All right. So, when winter Oh my goodness. Summer family fun night, June 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00. All right. Anybody have anything else? I just have a Pioneer Day um I guess kind of some updates. Um the website is live, so it's updated um with the correct date. So, again, it's Saturday, August 8th um with a movie in the park the night before. Um so, that'll be August 7th. And um the 5K registration is also active and it's live, so you can sign up for the second um annual 5K. Um as well as we now have uh little magnets with the date as well as a QR code to kind of scan and get to the website. So, that will be passed out at family fun night and I'll also be passing those out at local businesses, so people can hopefully get those that are in the Newport area. Um and then the buttons. So, uh the button design documentation went to the school, so the kids should be hopefully creating the buttons right now. And um those entries will get picked up next month and with the hope that we will vote on the button design next month. A little earlier this year um so that hopefully the person that wins, well, this this time the person that wins will get notified before school gets out. So, we'll vote next month. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah, so then they can know prior to to the end of school. Is there a way when Pauline and I used to do it, that's the only time we ever did it, um is because that's when we started doing the kids uh the design, that we can put the the winner's name on that button someplace, even if it's really tiny? I'll look into that. >> Yeah. Um because that's what we used to do so that and then we would give the winner six buttons or something like that just as a prize, but they would have their name on it. Yeah, that's a great idea. Yeah. >> Yeah, I think we just have to check with the parent, I think that'd be totally fine. Yeah, I mean, I just think it's something kind of cool for the whoever the winner is that it would be their button. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's a great idea. Um what time will the movie be? It's dusk, so um I'm not sure exactly. I think last year I I don't want to say incorrectly, but It's probably got to be at least 9:00, I would think. >> Close to 9:00, yeah. Okay. Okay. And you don't know what the movie is yet? No, so um this year we're going to have some options and I believe it's going to be on Facebook to vote for an movie. But again, it's a little far out to do that, so we'll probably do that in May. But yeah. So, everyone can pick what movie they want to see. >> That's awesome. Yeah, it was really fun last year. The weather was pretty much perfect, a little windy, um but there was a really good turnout. Um so, we're hoping for the same this year as well. Well, and once you do it and people know about it, then they'll tell their neighbors, "Oh, we did this last year and it was really fun." Oh, fun. And those are fun events, so.
