Um this evening um and I'm sure the community is excited to bring forward our calendar um for the 2627 school year. Um the proposed calendar was reviewed and there was feedback provided at the November 6th work our excuse me board workshop meeting. Um and so this evening I am asking for approval. The board is aware that we have a calendar committee. Um the calendar committee gets feedback from various groups and then brings that recommendation forward. And I think the thing we continue to hear is that we like the starting after Labor Day and could we get out earlier in June. And unfortunately that's not possible with this calendar because we really are backed up when we don't start with students until September 8th. And that is our tentative agreement with SWCPA, South Washington County Principles Association, and that will be presented by Abby Baker, executive director of human resources and operations. Good evening, Chair Schwarz, members of the school board, and Superintendent Nielsen. Tonight, I will present the tenative agreement with the Southwash County Principles Association. Negotiations toward a collective bargaining agreement between South Washington County Schools and South Washington County Principles Association have resulted in a tentative agreement effective July 1, 2025 through June 30th, 2027. Members of the bargaining unit approved the tenative agreement on November 5th, 2025. The economic costing of the tentative agreement includes the following. A 2% increase effective July 1, 2025. A 2% increase effective July 1, 2026. Um longevity pay of $350 per year after 10 years of service in the bargaining unit. Um a maximum of $9,800. Health insurance effective January 1, 2026. A 9% increase of district contribution on the high deductible plans. and January 1st, 2027, an 8% increase of district contribution on high deductible plans. Um, other contract items of note is an adjustment of the activities director for sen senior high to the assistant principal senior high salary band and then actually a decrease in vacation payout days from the maximum of 20 or 20 days to a maximum of 10 days per year. Um, administration recommends the approval of this contract. Can I get a motion to approve? >> So moved. >> Second. >> Motion by Shen, seconded by Simmyi. Uh well, we've had a little snow this week and so one of the things that are on that's on our to-do list with communications is to update our weather information. Um and so information went out today to families just to make sure that they're getting the alerts that they need. Um also it's hard to believe that it's the holiday time. Um November 6th will be a teacher work day and students will be off on that particular day along with Thanksgiving and the following day. So returning December 1st and then um as a school district we are doing some information nights for elementary as well as middle school. And so December 1st and December 3rd, we will have some middle school informational nights where families and community members who may be interested in attending South Washington County schools can come and learn about our middle schools. Um as well as there will be another night in December to learn about our elementary schools. So we're excited to offer those. And then finally uh today's give to the max days and many of us have heard about uh so wash coares and know that we have a district foundation and so it's a great opportunity to go in and if you're able to give um the website is so washcares.org. Thank you. >> Okay on to 9.0 and that is our future meeting dates. We do have one meeting in December and that is December 11th and that will be a schoolboard business meter meeting here at the district service center. On January 8th, 2026, we will have a schoolboard business meeting um and a workshop meeting. We do the business meeting to do all the required things that we have to do on that first meeting in January. Um and that will be here at the district service center at 6 PM.
