Mhm. >> All right. I'd like to call the May 28th, 2026 park board meeting to order. Roll call, please. >> Chairperson Furr. >> Here. >> Board member Perkins. >> Here. >> Board member Eggler. >> Here. >> And board member White and board member Westerberger not here. >> All right. Uh agenda, do we have a motion to adopt our agenda for this evening? >> I'll make a motion to adopt the agenda. >> Second. >> Seconded. >> All right, all in favor? >> Aye. >> All right, minutes from our Was it April 20 third? Yeah. Do we have a motion to approve minutes? Any additions, corrections, so forth? >> I'll make a motion to approve the minutes. >> Seconded. >> All right, all in favor? >> Aye. >> All right. Um >> [clears throat] >> Do we have, let's see here. It'd help if I got on the right page, sorry about that. All right, uh executive director's report. >> All right, what I have for you so far with the update at the Love Looms restrooms around, we've poured new pad, built a retaining wall, we're doing a little bit more concrete tomorrow, and then um we'll end up uh assembling the new surround, and then the restroom will be back where it is, so. >> Derek, you need to talk into the microphone. >> Can you hear me now? Um so, once we get that going in uh probably in the next couple weeks, and it should all be done. So, it looks really nice there. And then the city also uh was awarded uh MRPA Award of Excellence for the Pedestrian and Trail Network Planning. So, at a later date to be determined, they'll uh go to council in uh uh provide the award to the city, and so, it's pretty nice. It's the second year in a row that we've gotten an award, so for a project that'll be done, so >> Very nice. Very nice. >> And that is all I have. >> All right. >> [clears throat] >> Um for board members' reports, I guess we'll just start out with our family fun night um coming up next Tuesday, June 2nd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Um Derek, the kickball, the bases, stuff like that, is there any way like you and I can coordinate and I'll bring them with me, or is there some other plan? >> Yeah, I can drop them off to you if you like, again, like we did with uh bags and lights for with the family fun night, and I can do all that, it's no big deal. >> Okay, and then we can connect sometime later in the weekend, I'll get them back to you, so. >> Yep. >> All right, so we had um the bases, the kickball, um were we going to go with a just a picnic table for the um Pioneer Day table? And then we were going to also have someone there to initial packets for the 550 55 Adventure Club. So, no need for a table. Correct? >> I don't think so. >> And there's plenty of picnic tables up there, too. So. >> Okay. All right. And then, I know others had brought talked about the games and things that they were going to bring. So, other than that, can you guys think of anything else? >> Did anybody connect with Emily to get the bags from church? She sent out that email. >> I can connect with her and get it. Should be a big deal. Then I'll just drop them off at all the same time with a uh kick balls and stuff. So. >> Okay. So, you're talking the bean bag toss. >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. >> that's what she I think that's what she had. >> And then, Emmy was going to bring the >> ladder toss. >> Okay. Perfect. All right. So, we'll connect next week. I've got your number and stuff. We'll get that coordinated. Um and I know that Emily had reached out to Mick Mark about being there. >> Mhm. >> And were you able to contact the sheriff's department? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, they will have someone up there. >> Okay. Perfect. Guys, anything else you can think of as far as that evening? >> We weren't planning music or anything, were we? >> No. >> Is it just a couple? >> No. No music. All right. >> I got a mini speaker that can hook up to my phone if we wanted something, but it's not loud enough to party it to. >> No, that's all right. >> All right. So, I think we are all set for our fun night next Tuesday. Um [clears throat] at our last park board meeting, we had Dan had brought up and we talked about promoting our trail systems and things. And uh I know some of the futures, existing plans that are done, some of the future plans are listed on the website and things, but um and just kind of looking at the city website as far as permit use and things like that. Um I think as individuals, we would really be better to just coordinate with the the chamber and or the council on, you know, a possible program of some sort to promote our trail systems. I don't know if you guys had any chance to look at doing any research online or anything like that. >> Um, nothing specific. I mean, I I looked into maybe making it like a social media campaign, ways to promote the city, promote the the trail system, maybe get local businesses involved if they want to help with incentives and bring customers into their businesses. Not that we have a whole ton of businesses, but you know, Subway Fresh and Fit came to mind when I was thinking about it. Um, but, you know, just a way to raise awareness and you know, even bring outside people into the city to utilize our trail system since we're developing and investing so much in it. >> So, would that be something that uh you would suggest that we bring to the council? >> I'm not really supposed to talk at these meetings. >> Okay. Okay. I think that's what we'll >> something that Derek would need to address, but we do not have a communications [clears throat] employee that can create a social media campaign. >> Okay. So, that would be something then that you would approach the council with then? Okay. >> Yeah, we can figure out what we're if you have any suggestions or something like that, then we can approach admin and >> Mhm. >> council and all that, so. >> And it's it's the kind of project that it's like it's going to take a number of volunteers to, you know, make this roll and stuff. So, yeah. It's not like one person's going to be able to handle probably all of this, so. Yeah. okay. Perfect. All right, so you will address the council and we will address that future in the future here. Um the burdock and mustard clean up in June. I read that email. Um I didn't really see any specific dates listed on it. Did you guys see anything? >> No. >> No, if it's with the high school, though, it's usually the last day of school or something where the seniors the seniors last day of school. >> a volunteer. >> a volunteer instead of school. >> Okay. >> But I don't know which which day that would be. >> Okay. I don't know. Do the seniors get done a week early up here? >> No, it's usually a day. >> A day early? >> I really don't know. >> Okay. [laughter] I know, you know, where I graduated and stuff like that, the seniors always grad- graduated or out of school like a week by I had of all the other you know, kids and stuff, the other grades, so. Um I guess the best thing that we could probably do then is reach out to that individual that sent the um email and see what date they had in mind and I don't know. I I know right now at this point I can't next year I probably can, but I just Thursday I'm on the road the whole day, so. I don't know if the if either of you would have time to volunteer. >> It depends on the date. >> Okay. So, if it would be that Thursday, the the either the Wednesday or the Thursday 3rd or 4th of June, would that fit into your schedule? >> Um possibly. >> Yeah, I'd have to look at my calendar, but um anything's possible. It depends on the date and the time. >> Okay. I'm sure it would be mornings than what they did in the past years, from what I can remember. All right. Well, I will reach out to to individual and see if we can find out what exactly they had in mind for that day. So, on that. Anybody have anything else they'd like to talk about? Any other topics? Anything? Okay, we're going to keep our fingers crossed that Tuesday night will have a calm evening, no 90% chance of showers. All right. Do we have a motion to adjourn? >> I'll make a motion to adjourn. >> Second. >> I'll second. >> All in favor? >> I. >> I. >> We're adjourned.
