In formal votes, the board unanimously approved a resolution allowing the district to apply for grants from the Minnesota State High School League. The board also unanimously passed three transportation-related policies on their second reading: Policy 707 covering student transportation, Policy 710 addressing extracurricular transportation, and Policy 711 establishing video recording protocols on school buses. Chair Sherman reported that the policy committee received one piece of feedback on these policies but made no changes from their initial review.

The meeting also addressed concerns about recent bell time adjustments. Community member Kristen Hollis raised questions about middle schools releasing before the high school, citing potential impacts on bus routing efficiency, costs, and safety at Oakland Middle School. The superintendent was asked to review these concerns.

Administrators presented plans for a potential shift to a 4x4 block schedule at the high school, designed to increase elective options and support student mental health. The district recommended delaying implementation to Fall 2026 to allow adequate preparation across all departments. Additionally, Superintendent Funk reported on new professional development initiatives, including literacy training and "identity harm protocols" that principals can use to address incidents involving race, gender, or other protected characteristics. The board will receive training on navigating diversity challenges within the school community.
