Oakdale prepares residents for Halloween and winter season
At its Monday morning meeting, the Oakdale City Council highlighted seasonal safety measures and community events, including Halloween trick-or-treating at the fire station and new winter parking rules taking effect next month.
The Oakdale Police Department shared Halloween safety tips during the October 28 meeting, urging trick-or-treaters to wear bright clothing, use reflective tape, walk on sidewalks, and carry flashlights or glow sticks to stay visible in the dark. The guidance comes as the city prepares for Halloween night festivities.
The Oakdale Fire Department is hosting a free trick-or-treat event at Fire Station 2, located at 6633 15 Street N, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM on Halloween. Residents are invited to stop by for free hot dogs and candy.
In a separate initiative, the city is offering residents a free pumpkin composting program. A drop-off site at the north end of the City Hall Parking Lot will accept pumpkins from October 28 through November 12. The city asks that pumpkins be free of glitter, paint, wax, and candles before drop-off.
Looking ahead to winter, the council reminded residents that new street parking restrictions will take effect November 1. From November 1 through April 1, vehicles cannot park on city streets between midnight and 5 AM. Additionally, vehicles must be moved anytime snow accumulation exceeds two inches until the street is cleared. Residents should plan accordingly to avoid parking violations during the winter months.

[0:09] on the clock and get started. With Thursday being
Halloween, the Oakdale Police Department wants to
[0:13] offer a few Halloween safety tips to help our
trick-or-treaters stay safe. Tips include wear
[0:18] light colored clothing, bright costumes,
or add reflective tape to dark costumes;
[0:22] walk on the sidewalks whenever possible;
and carry a flashlight or glow stick to
[0:26] stay visible. Also on Thursday, the Oakdale Fire
Department is inviting everyone to trick-or-treat
[0:31] at the South Fire Station. Firefighters will
be serving free hot dogs, handing out candy,
[0:36] and more at Fire Station 2, located at 6633 15
Street N from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. We hope to see
[0:43] you there. Once again this year, the City
is hosting a free pumpkin drop off site at
[0:48] the north end of the City Hall Parking Lot.
Starting today, running through November 12,
[0:52] place your pumpkin in the marked bin to be
composted. Pumpkins must be free of glitter,

[1:02] ends and November begins, winter street parking
restrictions go into effect. Beginning Friday,
[1:06] November 1 through April 1, no vehicles may park
on City streets between the hours of 12 to 5 AM

inches until the street is clear of snow.
