City shares safety tips, promotes weekend market and recycling
The Oakdale City Council held its Monday morning briefing on January 20th, a day when city offices were closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The council highlighted upcoming community events and services, including a weekend indoor market, a holiday tree recycling program, and fire safety guidance.
City offices and facilities throughout Oakdale remained closed Monday, January 20th, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Regular business hours resume Tuesday.
Looking ahead, the city is promoting the Oakdale Indoor Market, scheduled for Saturday, January 25th, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Discovery Center. The event will feature more than 20 local vendors and is open to all residents.
The Public Works Department is also reminding residents that holiday tree recycling remains available through the end of January for $3 per tree. The department asks that residents remove all decorations and bags from trees before drop-off.
The Oakdale Fire Department used the meeting to share fire extinguisher safety tips with the public. Officials emphasized that residents should call 911 immediately when dealing with large fires. For small, manageable fires, the department recommends using the P.A.S.S. technique—an acronym for Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep—while prioritizing personal safety at all times.
