Oakdale announces holiday events and Veterans Day closure
The Oakdale City Council held its Monday morning briefing to announce several upcoming community events and remind residents that city offices will close Tuesday for Veterans Day.
City offices will be closed Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day, with regular hours resuming Wednesday morning. The city expressed gratitude to those who have served in the armed forces.
Looking ahead to the holiday season, Oakdale has scheduled several events for residents. The city's first Indoor Market of the season takes place Saturday, November 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Discovery Center, offering an early opportunity for holiday shopping.
The city is also launching a new holiday tradition with its inaugural Tree Lighting with Santa event on Thursday, December 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. The free event will feature Santa arriving on a fire truck, a tree lighting ceremony, photos with Santa, a bonfire with s'mores, refreshments, and music performed by the Tartan High School choir.
Meanwhile, Oakdale's Annual Photo Contest remains open for voting through November 30. Six finalists are competing, and residents can vote for their favorite photo by liking it on Facebook. The three photos with the most likes will be declared winners.
