Oakdale announces medication disposal program and spring events

The Oakdale City Council highlighted three community initiatives at its Monday meeting: a new free medication disposal program at City Hall, opening of picnic shelter reservations for spring and summer, and an upcoming indoor market featuring local vendors.

Oakdale residents now have a convenient way to safely dispose of unused and expired medications. The city has launched a free, year-round program with drop boxes located on the first floor of City Hall near the Police Station. The boxes are available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Residents can drop off medications in their original containers or in small bags. The program does not accept sharps, e-liquids, or vaping devices.

Looking ahead to warmer months, Oakdale residents can now reserve the city's picnic shelters for the 2025 season, which runs from April through October. Reservations are available online through the city website and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Oakdale residents receive a discounted rental rate compared to non-residents.

This Saturday, February 8th, the Oakdale Indoor Market will bring local vendors to the Discovery Center from 9 AM to 1 PM. The event will feature a variety of products including baked goods, canned goods, meats, sweets, and home goods, offering residents an opportunity to shop locally and support small businesses in the community.
