Oakdale Council Approves Liquor License, Trail Contract
The Oakdale City Council approved a new liquor license and awarded a construction contract during their regular meeting Monday night.
Council members unanimously approved an off-sale intoxicating liquor license for Jeang Family Enterprise LLC, doing business as Double Shots Liquor at 1021 Helmo Avenue North. The license expires March 31, 2026. Business owner Tong introduced himself to the council during the public hearing, noting he does not live in Oakdale but operates his business in the city.
The council also awarded a $159,480 contract to Sunramm Contracting for Willowbrook Trail Improvements Phase 2. Community Development Director Brian Bachmire said the project will remain within the adopted capital improvement budget. Sunramm is currently working on Willowbrook Park improvements for the city.
In other business, the council accepted a $50,000 climate action planning grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for design work on the 50th Street trail gap. Washington County agreed to provide the required $25,000 match as part of their overall design contract.
Mayor Zappel announced upcoming community events, including the farmers market continuing Wednesdays through October 8, a movie showing of Moana 2 at Walton Park on July 25, and National Night Out on August 5. The council concluded by entering closed session to discuss water appropriation permit litigation with the city attorney.
