The Oakdale City Council awarded a $890,650 construction contract to Sunra Construction for improvements to Willowbrook Park during their May 13 meeting.

The project includes site work, amenities and landscaping for the Willowbrook West and North areas, along with installation of a restroom and open-air shelter. Public Works Director Corey said the city received seven competitive bids over 22 days, with Sunra Construction submitting the lowest proposal. The bid came in nearly $10,000 under the city's projected estimate of $979,715, including contingency funds.

The council also approved the final plat for Oakdale Farms Edition, a commercial subdivision at 3500 High Point North between the new Aldi and Starbucks locations. Community Development Director Andrew Goff said the approval allows the current single lot to be divided into four individual parcels for potential future sale.

During the meeting's public hearing, the council reviewed the annual storm water pollution prevention plan report. City staff member Mr. Bachmire noted the city must reapply for its MS4 storm water permit, which expires in December. He said the new permit will require more specific goals and prohibit certain firefighting foams.

Mayor Kevin Zabel issued proclamations recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month, National Police Week and Public Works Week. The council also approved routine business items including meeting minutes and consensus motions without discussion.
