Oakdale Seeks Council Applications, Acorn Award Nominations

The city of Oakdale is accepting applications to fill a vacant City Council seat following a recent resignation, according to the city's Monday Morning Minute update released June 30.

Residents interested in serving the remaining year-and-a-half of the council term must submit applications and complete a questionnaire by 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 2. Application materials are available at oakdalemn.gov.

The city also announced that Monday marks the final day for residents to nominate properties for the annual Oakdale Acorn Award, which recognizes outstanding landscaping in residential, business/commercial and public categories. Nominations can be submitted through the city's website.

City officials expressed gratitude to the Oakdale Summerfest Community Organization for coordinating the recent community celebration. The volunteer group was praised for the significant work required to organize the annual event.

City offices will be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day, the announcement noted.
