hey it's Daniel for Forest Lake Area School Board just wanted to real quick give you a why I'm running uh very simple four simple points school safety academic Excellence wise spending Community representation okay school safety no kid wants to feel unsafe coming to school whether it's boys and girls locker room whether it's drugs whether it's bullying doesn't matter so what can we do about it very simple there's a lot of retired law enforcement that would love to volunteer their time come in walk through every one of our buildings and give a security a safety audit and just give um here's immediate intermediate and future things that you can do to make your school safer right academic Excellence 2024 testing came out we are failing one out of two kids are failing their MCA testing scores okay that's unacceptable um what can we do about it we're District number 193 in the state let's go to the top 10 districts and say obiwan teach me your ways what is the secret SAS you're doing to help your students get 99 and a half% of your students get passing or Excel above the MCA testing where we're at like 50% of students can pass it um let's not settle for the status quo right let's push ourselves uh why is spending last 10 years years our budget has gone up $14.5 million where did that money come from now property taxes 10 years ago 7% of the budget was coming out of local uh property taxes today it's 21% so they're overspending the budget by more than a million every year and our general fund is down to about zero right now um what are some ways we can do to save money just efficiency you don't have to cut a bunch of programs to be efficient you can do collaboratives you know purchasing power together with other districts um sharing you know track and field and all the different amenities right uh administrative costs I think we we spend over like it's a ton like a million bucks or something on Dei programs that they don't call them that but Dei programs that don't help the students um with academics and it's just extra bloat extra you know money being burned um there's alternative income that we can pull as a school you know renting out the buildings on a Sunday morning or um track and field for more events for other there's there's plenty of creative ways to make more income um last but not least Community representation okay statute 126 c17 last year now gives any school board the authority to take a vote seven people now reach in and grab your ballot and check yes they can reup the levy without putting it to a public public vote and this is unacceptable it's what got a fire under me to get in this race um I'm running with the team we call ourselves team tank because it's the acronym of our last name we will not stand for this we will never subvert your vote to get your money right um there are plenty of ways to be more efficient and to cut our costs we don't need to take people's money it's like this current School Board a lot of the members are are talking hey next year the um the 8-year Levy is up now we voted in 2018 and I voted for it we nearly doubled the levy that we're giving the school district to help pay for our kids education well I voted for one Levy I didn't vote for two so they're talking about re-upping it next year to another uh eight years and I feel that's wrong so um Community representation teachers parents community members School Board all communicating together right that's where the magic happens so what can you do to do this things like digital Town Halls you know get a thriving uh ex or you know Twitter account going get a um I'd like to personally make a YouTube channel give five minute recap videos for every who has two hours to sit down and watch Schoolboard meeting but you can get five minutes get everything that happened what's upcoming um it's it's all about connecting with the community so that about does it um thank you very much November 5th vote Daniel tuat for Forest Lake Schoolboard give me a call 76356 5759 to chat or email me daniel.
