hi my name is Susan young and I am a candidate for the Forest Lake City Council um I believe in community uh I believe that we are stronger together I think that there are ways of leveraging the work of the city council and the work of the community to make this a place that we are all proud to call home and and to feel comfortable and safe and secure in I want to improve the fiscal health of our community that means both the the econ economy for our residents the way that our city funds its finances to be very mindful of the way we we make our we handle our resources and to support local businesses that is part of the economic health of our community we have unique small businesses here and we're really not highlighting those and making sure that that they are in Forefront two-thirds of all new jobs are local small businesses that is National that is local small businesses are the heart of our future I want to improve our infrastructure nothing works in a city without water sewers street lights signal Lights making sure that we can get where we want to go and that we are healthy and safe Public Works is basic health and safety Public Works is the way that we get around the way that we feel safe in our community City infrastructure is also our police and fire we're very fortunate in Forest Lake to have amazing police and fire folks we need to be supporting them they are part of our infrastructure and I want to continue to build community I volunteer in a number of different organizations very varied organizations because they are what what makes our community I was raised to volunteer and interacting with my community to be a part of the community and to make it what I wanted to see by my volunteer efforts it doesn't do any good to sit back and complain if you have an issue you really need to be willing to work for that issue and I think that as a Forest Lake Community we can come together we can do amazing things in this community community is what I'm all about I have experience in both the city as being on the council for 12 years I'm a retread uh I'm also on the Planning Commission and I said I volunteer in communities thank you very much I look forward to serving Forest Lake
