hello everyone I'm Gail Tyson and I'm excited and proud to run for re-election to the Forest Lake School board thank you for your support in the past your conversations and emails with me on school topics and I welcome your vote this November I have seen our school district grow and improv since being elected in 2012 and fac challenges obviously the biggest challenge was working through covid and distance learning we are recovering from that and our student test scores are showing this too the last Statewide testing results show we exceed the state average in all areas with Community passage of the building Bond referendum in 2018 we were able to update and improve our facilities I am proud to say that all projects were delivered on time and under budget we now have first class facilities including the high school science Wing our football stadium energyefficient heating and cooling systems and secure entrances to all ours buildings working with my colleagues and the community we adopted a strategic plan that will guide us into the future so every child is successful an example is we have implemented our Gateway courses at the middle school and new English language arts curriculum are improving academics every day that has and will always be my number one priority to provide an environment where every child can succeed at their academics and be prepared for life Life After High School my passion for public education extends beyond our school district I also serve on the North East Metro intermediate District board this is a member district board that focuses on serving our special needs students in a level four setting I also was elected by my East Metro peers to be a director for the Minnesota School Board Association this has given me a leadership role in discussing policies and issues facing Public Schools and learning firsthand what is working well in other districts across the state and nationally it takes money to provide our students with the education they deserve funding our school is also a state responsibility I have developed relationship with our with our legislators to advocate for Equalization and fair funding for Forest like area schools for example we are geographically the third largest school district in the state our buses travel almost 300 M of routes every day but the state funds busing on a per pupil basis not on miles driven and that costs taxpayers and force Lake Area Schools money out of our general fund to pay for our buses we have worked to have bills passed to recognize our high Transportation costs in Forest like area schools in closing together and with your vote we can preserve what is working well and continue that positive upward trajectory of building our students academic Futures I look forward to meeting listening and learning from all of you together we will ensure all Rangers experienced success pre kindergarten through graduation and Beyond I am proud to be your school board member and humbly ask for your vote for Gail Tyson on Tuesday November 5th for Forest Lake Schoolboard thank you
