Assessment of Public Safety Department Space and Operational Needs
The department has grown significantly since 2010 to meet the needs of a growing community and daily visitors. The Community Impact Unit lacks adequate space for community engagement meetings. The Community Support Unit, comprising detectives and social workers, operates in a 'tight space' which hinders their ability to serve clientele privately and effectively. Furthermore, garage space is at a premium, and the back parking lot lacks secured access. The department aims to acquire more space and improve existing facilities to better serve the community, provide officers with necessary tools, and optimize the public safety campus.

Our Community Impact Unit was formed last year. We regularly hold meetings to connect with the community, and we don't have a great space to do that right now.
They work in a pretty tight space right now, so having a private area for them to really focus on meeting the needs of their clientele would be imperative as we add more officers to help make these programs a success and keep the community safe, which is our top priority.
