[0:03] Tee ball.
[0:05] This is the best summer job
I've ever had.
[0:10] I wanted to become a seasonal
member of Woodbury Parks and Rec
[0:14] because I wanted to be outside
all day.
[0:17] And I wanted to work
with the kids and introduce them
[0:19] to new, fun activities
like kayaking and fishing.
[0:22] Some of these kids
have never done it before, so
[0:24] it's really fun to be able
to teach them that
[0:27] and watch them
succeed in it too.
[0:29] I like working
with different kinds of people.
[0:31] Just having that variety
of like personalities.
[0:33] Some of them are super shy.
[0:35] Some of them are super
like outgoing.
[0:37] Some of them are like
super focused.
[0:40] And I just like that range.
[0:42] This is my 10th summer.
[0:43] I knew I wanted to do something
working with kids, and I knew
[0:47] working
an inside job wasn't for me.
[0:49] So this opportunity came
[0:51] working
with the kids in the community.
[0:53] I love how they're always
so engaged and ready.
[0:56] Then also with working
with tremendous staff members
[0:59] who are really passionate about,
[1:01] creating connections with kids
and having memorable moments
[1:04] with them.
[1:04] This job is helping me prepare
for a future in coaching.
[1:08] I love being able to see
these kids
[1:10] thrive at these new activities,
and also find passion
[1:13] in different activities
that they've never done before.
[1:16] I'm a retired
advertising executive
[1:19] and this is kind of my fun
second career.
[1:21] And so I encourage anybody
that has any aspirations about
[1:25] sharing their knowledge
about tennis
[1:27] to get involved with Woodbury
Tennis
[1:29] and share their
love of the sport
[1:32] with all of the kids
that are coming up.
[1:34] Because tennis is one of those
[1:35] sports
that's multi-generational.
[1:37] It's young to old. It is so fun.
[1:40] I come to work every day
with a smile on my face.
[1:42] I leave work every day
with a smile on my face.
[1:44] I would 100% recommend the Parks
and Rec department.
[1:48] I think it's a great opportunity
to meet really good people
[1:51] and kind of
have a meaningful job.
[1:53] It also get you outside
during the time
[1:54] when you get a pretty good tan.
[1:55] That's kind of a big perk of it
also.
[1:57] This is the only
job you get a whistle. Trust.
