Woodbury's very own Nunnabove has been performing their original songs around the Twin Cities for several years. They have opened for Chaka Kahn at the state fair, appeared on America's Got Talent, played sets at local clubs like the Dakota and have toured nationwide. In part 1 we see how they got their learning music at K & S conservatory of music. [0:11] Performing Arts since here in Woodbury
[0:13] and I had this amazing vocal instructor
[0:16] for like 11 years her name is Andrea
[0:19] wheeler and she changed my entire life
[0:23] she showed me how to use my voice she
[0:26] taught me that it is an instrument and
[0:28] so I really appreciate her her
[0:32] guidance I got involved in music at a
[0:35] really really young age I was
[0:37] three and I had just gone over to the
[0:42] panel that we had in our house and just
[0:44] started clunking something out my mom
[0:46] thought it sounded really really good
[0:47] and so she was like okay for a
[0:49] three-year-old you kind of don't suck
[0:51] let's get you into some lessons and
[0:52] kadence had just recently stopped uh
[0:55] piano lessons so they still had like the
[0:58] plan for lessons so they just show me in
[1:00] there um and I I stuck with
[1:03] it in my head guitar players are like
[1:07] the Pinnacle of coolness so it was
[1:10] guitar all the way my guitar music
[1:12] teacher Jeff brusi taught me at knns
[1:15] Conservatory of Music and was very
[1:17] influential and it wasn't until I
[1:21] started taking it seriously that we
[1:24] started to really connect and like Bond
[1:26] on a like a cool teacher student level
[1:30] he he really instilled a sense of like
[1:33] perseverance and uh dedication into my
[1:36] playing and I appreciate that I can kind
[1:39] of let out any type of energy I am
[1:41] feeling on the Drums Jerry Shelton from
[1:45] ath and Science Academy was a huge
[1:47] inspiration for me and I just really
[1:50] appreciated like his presence and
[1:51] confidence in me I was like put in a in
[1:54] an upper class and I'd get kind of looks
[1:56] like why are you here I just really
[1:58] appreciated that he was like no you're
[2:00] going to be in my class cuz I I want you
[2:01] to be here and you deserve to be here
[2:03] and um I just think about that a lot and
[2:05] it makes me really happy
