[0:06] this project was prioritized in our
[0:08] 5-year Capital Improvement plan so we
[0:10] began planning for the funding of it
[0:11] through a sales tax about 2 years ago
[0:13] the local option sales tax referendum is
[0:16] really a referendum that's coming to you
[0:18] the voters on the November 5th ballot
[0:20] for you to help decide how to pay for a
[0:22] public safety campus Improvement project
[0:25] that local option and sales tax is
[0:26] valued at
[0:28] .5% which is equivalent to to just 5
[0:30] cents on $10 it's also projected that
[0:33] about 53% of people outside wood beard
[0:36] would be the ones to pay for that if
[0:38] approved by voters the sales tax
[0:40] increase would go into effect April 2025
[0:43] and last for about 20 years or until the
[0:46] full funds were collected projections
[0:48] indicate that the city could collect the
[0:50] $50 million in about 13 years which is
[0:53] about 7 years faster than it could be
[0:55] done with just property tax alone if
[0:57] passed funds from the sales tax increase
[0:59] will used to fund the majority of the
[1:02] public safety campus project if the
[1:04] referendum does not pass this planned
[1:06] project will be paid for by additional
[1:08] property taxes
