[0:00] I joined the planning Commission
as a junior at Eastridge
[0:03] because I really wanted
to make an impact
[0:05] and represent
the voices of young people
[0:07] at my high school,
but also in Woodbury in general.
[0:10] Participating in the commission
[0:12] makes me feel like
I have a purpose,
[0:13] and that I can share
my feedback,
[0:15] and that it is valuable
to the commission.
[0:18] I think just getting opportunity
[0:19] to learn
from my fellow commissioners.
[0:21] They're all so knowledgeable.
[0:22] We have an expert
environmental engineer,
[0:24] a botanist,
[0:25] small business owners,
and it's really rewarding
[0:27] to be able to see
their expertise in action.
[0:29] The City Council takes
our feedback super seriously,
[0:32] and some of our amendments
and proposals
[0:34] are actually adopted
into the final plan
[0:36] that is passed into law
by council.
[0:38] So it's really a great way
to amplify your voice.
[0:41] Another student should consider
[0:43] joining one of these commissions
[0:45] so that they, too,
can get back to their community
[0:47] by participating
in meaningful discussions.
