[0:06] Since 2010, because
of the growth in our community,
[0:09] we have many people
[0:10] that not only live here
every day,
[0:12] but also visit our city
on a daily basis.
[0:15] Our Public Safety department
has grown
[0:18] to try to meet
the needs of that community.
[0:21] Our Community Impact
Unit was formed last year.
[0:24] We regularly hold meetings
to connect with the community,
[0:27] and we don't have a great space
to do that right now.
[0:30] In our Community Support Unit.
[0:31] We have one detective
and two embedded social workers,
[0:35] and we will soon grow to two
detectives with two embedded
[0:38] social workers.
[0:39] They work in a pretty
tight space right now, so
[0:42] having a private area for them
to really focus on meeting
[0:46] the needs of their clientele
would be imperative
[0:49] as we add more officers to help
make these programs a success
[0:52] and keep the community safe,
which is our top priority.
[0:56] Our garage space right now
is at a premium,
[0:59] and we don't have a secured
access to our back parking lot.
[1:03] So what we are looking for
[1:05] is a better way
to serve our community.
[1:07] More space,
[1:08] more opportunities for officers
[1:10] to use the tools that they have,
[1:12] and just a better use
of this public safety campus.
